but the Jews didn't even have a concept of hell till Jesus, so I think our understanding of hell ballooned from what Jesus & the first Christians taught.

I admit I didn't look into this particular subject that terribly extensively (and it was also about eight years ago when I did ^_^ ), but I gleaned from what research I did do that the whole immortal-souls-in-physical/mental-torment version of hell did not even really gain ground in the Church until St. Augustine championed it around 300 AD, if it was even a concept that existed in the church at all by that time. But I may have some facts misremembered. Of course, history is written a number of ways, so how totally sure can we be that one version is correct and the other is distorted, right? I guess only the Lord would know.

34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35for I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:34-40

Does this mean that if we give money and food to the homeless or those in need, take care of the sick, we will go to Heaven?

We're saved by faith, not by works (Acts 16:25-34, Eph. 2:8-9, John 3:16, 6:28-29). Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ's death on the cross to atone for our sins allows our hearts to be changed (Heb. 11:6, John 6:28-29, Rom. 12:2), leading to good works proving such (Gal. 5:19-26, John 6:28-29, 13:1-17, 14:15-31, 15:1-17, Luke 6:43-45, Matt. 7:12-29). This grace is NOT to be abused, however (Gal. 6:7, Heb. 11, James 2:14-26, Jude 1:4). This is what I call "Extreme Protestantism," using God's plan of salvation as a license to sin.

The greatest test of character is loving others as ourselves despite power imbalances, especially if towards our own favour (1 Cor. 13, Lev. 19:14-15, Matt. 22:34-40, John 14:15-31, 1 John 4:7-21, Rom. 13:8-10). This passage describes the most vulnerable members of society; how we treat them reveals the kind of people we really are (Luke 11:37-12:12, 14:1-14, 16:1-15, 16:19-31, Matt. 22:34-40, 23:1-39). This is something The Holy Spirit often asks me: "Why be a hypocrite?"

Mystery woman has a boyfriend. Her car came and she always drives her car herself. But she came out of the passenger's side this time. This guy also came out of her car from the driver's seat. Even though they weren't holding hands or were cuddly, I just got the impression that this guy, is her guy.
This impression was in my very core, in my very being.

That's when the illusion shattered. That's when reality hit and it hits hard. I had lulled myself into believing God had sent her. I knew this was a very slippery slope believing something like that, because that is a very naive way of thinking. Bella have many times warned me that I lived in a fantasy and she was right. I kept telling Bella and myself that deep down I knew and I did know. But there was this tiny thought inside of me, mystery woman could have been sent by God.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

I started to see her as my way out, that God had sent her as an incentive for me to become a better Christian like I could win her as a God given prize, like going from Santa's clause's naughty to nice list.
I had not seen her with a man, so everything became emphasized.

Don't get me wrong, I am still attracted to her. The difference is, now I know, I don't have chance.
God knows I wish I had one.

I thank the Lord for being close, broken hearted and crushed in spirit as I have been the past few days.

I have been so delusional.

Bella. Your efforts have not been in vain. As distraught as I have been since Sunday when I saw her. I find solace in many things. I still have God, I still have the Bible everyday when I read in it. I still have my faith, I still have hope. I still have prayer. While Mystery woman don't have any love for me, God does. I owe you a great deal of gratitude for being the voice of reason in all this. Your words strengthened me and made me ready to brace myself for the impact, when I was forced to come to my senses. Now that the dust has settled I am still standing. God bless you for that.

To all you lovely CF'ers out there.
I am still here, I am not going anywhere... At least not until God provides me with my helper that is fit for me, my rib, my loving doe, my graceful deer, that is more precious than jewels.

Psalms 37:4
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Thank God for that! Amen!

At least you know now and can move on.

Last week (on the 19th), I got in a major car accident.

All my bags deployed and I could have died. I am injured and have been out of work for almost two weeks.

I had the right of way (had a green arrow), and a woman was going full speed and slammed into me.

I have lots of bruising. On my face, neck, chest, stomach, and legs.

Today, I rejoice to my God that I’m alive and that EVERYTHING works together for MY good. He is faithful and he is worthy of my praise, still!

Your life is worth something. Jesus will take you home when it’s time to take you home.

I have lots of bruising and mentally processing totaling my car, but just more thankful I’m not dead.

Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts.

It definitely has gotten me down, but been spending time with Jesus makes it better. I have a lot to process because it was pretty bad.
