  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Speaking of, this is definitely one of my more sociably heavy moments as an adult ever since I got out of school. Already so far while just sitting here at the bar of Mule Kick, I have briefly chatted with the adorable Miss Reese, a college student who has been my server a few times before but could not be tonight; met with a coworker April who came here with her family after work today as well; and met another woman named Tommye who noticed my work outfit and inquired of me, asking if I knew her husband who had recently retired from the HR department at my workplace. I did not know him, but we had a pleasant enough conversation for a minute, ending with the customary "it was nice to meet you" handshake before she saw someone else she knew and had to run off.

.... All in all, a pleasant evening. And quite a social stretch for me personally. Any onlooker who did not know me better might have concluded that Sarah's Knight is quite the party animal, whom everyone knows fondly. ^_^

I'm glad you enjoyed your evening.

Proud of you, friend! Glad you were able to stretch yourself to get to talking to people! :)

Shoveled the driveway, did some R/C-ing in the snow, dusted off my resume, cooked some delicious food, hugged the cat, read a bunch of weird relationship threads on Reddit, and watched several equally weird relationship videos on YouTube. Currently playing guitar while catching up on various forums.

Icing my knee from a pre-birthday gathering on ice. First time ice skating since I was probably 8 to 10 years old. I only went one or two times. I did a pretty good job out there and got some good video. I even took the video while I was ice skating. Hopefully they don't call me for snow plowing as I'm worthless right now for driving.
It's cool that you went ice skating. Sorry to hear about the knee. I haven't ice skated since college, and lost track of my hockey skates years ago. If I didn't live in the South, I'd probably already have a new pair by now. Likewise, a new pair of cross-country ski boots. I could have used my skis today.

If you don't mind taking thirty minutes or so out of your life for something like this, @angelsaroundme, ^_^ here's one part of that stream I spoke of that our friend did of our game Arc Arath a few years ago, where I can see how my writing was a bit wordy and repetitive.

What was really uplifting for me as the writer, however, was to see that one person in particular who followed the streamer seemed really drawn to and complimentary of one character that I had thought up entirely on my own, the one featured in the second half of the video above named Jersey Heartshorn. If even just one person expressed admiration and care for Jersey and her character arc as frequently as she had, then it makes me feel like I had done something right, you know?
^_^
I liked the idea in your game of collecting angel fragments for the guardian angels or something of that nature. Praylight is a fun name too. There was only a few parts where the text could have been broken up but overall the writing seemed good quality. ^_^

That person goes to show that what you did with Jersey was able to resonate. I can see why based on what I gathered from that clip. She wasn't an automatically great hero like many stories have. She seemed to have persevered though and became great. The line about how the other students died a hero and she was living as one was excellent BTW.

Ohhh! Ice skating!! That sounds like a great time! I went ice skating a week or so ago and it can be so much fun!! I hope your knee recovers speedily!!!:hug::hug:

Thank you! It was fun. Life really slows down when you get injured though. I was looking forward to helping somebody out from work whose house burned down, I have a lot of stuff to give her. But I think she would have had to cancel too because she's out plowing snow tonight.
Aw, injuries are no fun!:hug::hug:That's so sweet of you! I really hope everything works out for you with that.

Praying for you, Miss @sampa. I hope overall the ice skating experience after all of those years wasn't a personally regrettable one for you, despite it putting you on the sidelines.

Thanks. :) That segment was probably one of my lesser-flawed examples, though. ^-^ But thank you for taking so much time to go through all of that. Just to give an explanation for that "affinity fragment" thing, because I don't remember alluding to it at any point in that part of the stream you saw, the guardian angels accompanying the party of heroes are now losing their immortality and are on the verge of absolute destruction if the villains of the story win, for they tell the heroes a story earlier in the game of when they gave a literal piece of their immortal hearts in tribute and gratitude to the goddess who made them, fashioning the pieces into the form of a brooch. The main villain of the story, the Great Dragon (an analog of Satan, of course ^_^ ), once tore that brooch away from the Goddess and crushed it before her eyes, scattering the pieces all over the worlds below that are the "angel fragments" that you mentioned above. And of course, this now means that the immortal natures of the four guardian angels Pryan, Aries, Chermes, and Michiru are compromised now that it is no longer in their Divine Mother's care, but broken and scattered. So the heroes can find the fragments all around now and hope to restore their immortality some day.

I appreciate that. ^-^ Somehow the character of Jersey Heartshorn just resonated with me to after I first came up with the idea for her. Of course we always have to have our token cute heroine with the group of playable protagonists in RPG's, but I am also glad I managed to write her in something of a "real" way to where people who played the game would empathize with and find her a genuinely likeable character.

Of course, if I may brag for just one moment longer, this is her, brought to life by a talented freelance artist we once found who had an affinity for the anime style =>

The artist is talented. Is it someone that you personally knew?

No, but he was the future brother-in-law of someone I do know personally, Ixzion. Ix is the creator of the other forum community I used to be an active part of for about ten years - from about 2006 to 2015 - called RPGMaker Magazine. Also the community through which I came to know the guy who did the stream of our game, Erika. RPGMMag is the first social setting of any sort that I ever joined on the Internet, even before YouTube, and it is also where I first came up with the name Sarah's Knight, to be known as by everyone else in the community. And it stuck with me ever since to where I desired to make it a way of life, a set of vague guidelines to follow in my personal walk of faith. That's where he was born, yup. ^-^

I'm glad that he could influence you in such a way. It's good to always have positive influences to help us to grow in our faith and Life choices.

Aww. It's funny because a coworker that's a runner like me and friend, she gifted me with a running store gift card of $30. I teared up and thought that was precious. On top of that she told me she ran late getting home because she had to get that gift card the day before, since she couldn't make the ice skating event... Her husband asked her, did you get her $30 because she looks like she's 30 years old? And she said exactly. That was so flattering, because she is 29 years old and her husband just turned 30. They are both athletic and involved in ultimate Frisbee. I told her I always wish to have a young mindset.

I started thinking about what would 90 years old look like for me. Would I be like the celebrity Betty, I don't think I'm the harsh type, but I want to be beautiful. I probably will be more eccentric and beautiful like Iris. And I pray that I will have a husband that also is with me in his 90s. And he will appreciate my ideas and creativity. More than anything I pray that I have a community of support like I do now and can be a mentor and positive influence to those around me and help even in my older age.

I apologize that I don't post here all the time, sometimes I have to reprioritize as life situations come up. But I really do appreciate you and I appreciate others in the community that is here

You're welcome. ^-^ I remember early in the stream some mention of the fragments and angels. The story sounds interesting. It's a bit like Narnia with analogs to the Bible. I can tell you put a lot of heart into it and it seems more unique than some RPGs I've played. I like the idea of restoring good rather than simply conquering evil if that makes sense... most games are about killing the villain and there isn't much of an established order afterwards beyond the heroes themselves.

Yes, exactly, making the character feel real is everything. The art is very cute and has a lot of personality. That was money well spent. ^_^

As do I. It sometimes cannot help but seem to emphasize that a feature of Good is having greater strength than Evil - thus might is what makes right, rather than the other way around, I suppose you'd say - when the objective seems to be more about destroying the enemy, getting vengeance, etc. than it is bringing back peace and helping those who were harmed by Evil in some way.

The heroes do go on to fight and destroy the Dragon, of course, but still, I preferred to emphasize as best as I could that Evil was actually quite a lot stronger than the forces of Good in this story, thus that is why Evil is to be feared (as in to be afraid of, not revered or respected, certainly) by the people of this world in the game, and the people of Elvenia themselves - who are certainly all on the side of Good - are never filled with vengeance or feel arrogant of their strength even if they do gather to courage to physically fight back, like in Jersey's case. In fact, another Elvenian who joins the fight, Tasera, has much of her character arc be about overcoming her fears of becoming a warrior who enjoys besting and/or killing others in battle, even if she is reluctant to fight even in self-defense and never enjoyed the prospect.

But there are also lots of little things the heroes do in their quest to save the galaxy from the Dragon, that don't involve fighting at all but helping and comforting those oppressed or hurt. There is even an optional segment where you can find a rare tonic to cure a young mother's infant child of a devastating sickness, for instance. ^-^ And of course, the scene at the graveyard you saw above could also count as such an example.
