I have taken notes on a lecture by Fr. David Anderson on what the Orthodox Church believes. I would like to share all of what I took notes on here so that people who are interested in the EOC, can read this thread to learn where we stand on very important issues. I have two more DVD's to listen to, so I will probably add more notes after watching them. :D I was wondering if the MODS should make this a sticky so people can see it when they come in and go to it.

GW >> Interesting and provocative, however, I'm always careful in making sure that I believe nothing that is not scriptural.

The question I have for you centers down on "love".

Specifically, how do you define the love of God? I say that because the English word for "love" is rather useless because it means many things.

I cay say I love my dog and with the same breath, I can also say "I love God." Two different kinds of love, yet we use the same word.

Please clarify what you mean by "love."

Hi, GW. I am now putting up the videos I took the notes for that I posted in this thread. Fr. David answers your question on God and Love. I recommend the videos to watch. I will be posting all of them over the next couple weeks. Three are up so far. Please watch them when you can. :)

Oh, just one thing on the word "love." The English word for it only has one meaning, but in the original Greek for which the NT was written as well as the OT Septuagint, there are three different meanings for "love."

I was always taught that there were four loves encompassed by the one English word in Scripture. See below for the excellent book by CS Lewis on the subject.

 Thanks, Mark. And btw, long time no see! Great to see you again!

Also, the first few videos I do not have posted or notes for on this thread, so you all will get the whole lecture through the videos. :)

Well, now Google has taken over my you tube account and after all the time downloading yesterday, it rejected it saying it was too long, even though I have posted 7 just like it. What the heck?! I'm really getting irritated!
