It wasn't immediately clear to whom the sanctions would apply.

White House, Treasury and State Department spokespeople did not immediately provide clarity on the new sanctions.

I think president Trump should attempt to form a coalition with allies. He should use the bonds of trust he has created with other world leaders to direct the condemnation of the international community at Iran. Certainly his penchant for attacking allies and inability to be honest will not be an issue in dealing with an international crises?

I do not think we need to bribe them the way Obama did. The Bible says to return good for evil. They say the people in Iran are very good people. The problem is with the government. We could do good for the people. There use to be a joke about how third world nations should declare war on the USA because after the war is over we go in with aid to rebuild their nation.

I once for a short time entertained the idea that Trump's friendliness to Putin and little Kim and others was just a good business move to garner an advantage in business. Then I came to realize he simply admired the power these people had. Now the same misdirection could apply with this turn the other cheek reaction. There no doubt in context is another motive at play in restraint.
