The republican mantra of tax cuts isn't going to put more $$ in the coffers either. Its real simple...every housewife knows it. Either more comes in, less goes out or some combination of both.

I don't buy the whole 47% quote, because if you think about it, the people who may not be paying income taxes are still paying other taxes. FICA is not optional nor refundable, sales taxes, property taxes, gas taxes...all get paid whether or not you pay income taxes. Therefore the statement was misleading.

Bottom line...taxes have to go UP. Quit giving "tax breaks" to the corporations that just offshore jobs. The jobs that are being "created" these days are mostly low paying service jobs. The days of the good paying manufacturing jobs are just about over.
Again sister, your well balanced world views come into light.:wave:
It's so sad that folks like you with common sense can't possibly raise the money to take office. That is, I think b/c you'd likely bite the hand that fed ya.;)
Anyhow, thanks for portraying the truth.

We ALL pay taxes. Especially the poor folks who can't afford healthy diets. We have bad colons and we use faaaaaaaaarrrrrr more toilet paper than the rich^_^. And toilet paper tax is NON negotiable. We can't write off fuel, b/c we work for someone else. Rich folks don't pay for their fuel, the govt does.

One quick example in my own life.

A friend worked for a small trucking company. The owner paid a little over 155K in fuel costs last yr. And he bought a new rig. And he paid his 2 drivers 91K. He paid maintenance and insurance costs of over 26K. In total, the 2 driver outfit paid out a little more than 417K in costs, and brought in a little better than 535K for a net profit of 118K. And tbf, the owner drove a bunch of those miles himself since he gave his drivers 10 days off for every 6 weeks on the road.
However, here's where it gets fishy. He paid 0 federal income tax. 0. He received a subsidy check of 11K. How is that possible.

Well, he's incorporated. He pays himself a salary out of the 118K profit. He pays federal income taxes on his salary. Then he uses the rest of the profit, reinvesting in his business. IE, a boat to take prospective clients out. A new Hummer for the same. A new tractor rig and some new furniture , for the office, yeah right. I don't know how his accountant made it happen, but the guy literally broke it down for me while I was installing his floors. And it was ALL legal.
After govt subsidies for fuel, new equipment, new hire, and everything else, the guy gets a check for almost 2X what he paid out in his own federal income tax and FICA tax. Incredible.

Do you begrudge him that? He sounds like a very smart man, gifted with a mind toward business. Not all of us have the same gifts but we all have gifts and we need to find out what our gifts are. When it comes to eternity, how much money we made won't matter. It's a fact of life that the grass is always greener... and we live so fast that we don't take the time to be thankful for little things, like the sunshine, grass, flowers, trees, all gifts. We won't be elevated to positions in heaven according to how much we made in life. So being angry or bitter about our situations will only distract us from all that we have right now. Ask any cancer survivor. And does that man know the Lord? If not then I doubt he is truly happy with his money.

You must be a fan of MSNBC and CNN. If you listen to what he said, he was referring to the ELECTION. He said 47% will vote for Obama no matter what and that is what the polls show. So he's not going to waste his time trying to convince them. 47% don't pay taxes, and some of them are seniors or on disability, like me. His mistake was putting us all together in the 47%, leaving out gays, Hispanics, single women, Hollywood, unions, coastal liberals and those who think the Democrats will be able to continue paying all of the entitlements. So he was, as he said, "inelegant" and speaking off the cuff. He was accurate however, when he said 47% do not pay taxes, meaning income tax. That is what is usually referred to when speaking of taxes in general.

The liberal media has twisted it to make people think he was dissing those who don't pay taxes. He just knows that he can't get their votes, for the most part. Seniors are being lied to by Obama and don't know that if they are over 70 and get sick, a panel on non-medical people will decide their fate. AARP is lying to them. So he's not going to get their votes and he's just admitting it. He's going after the Independents and undecideds. That's all he said but MSNBC, the networks and CNN are doing their best to twist it.

If you increase capital gains taxes, you discourage people from investing in companies and it will hurt seniors who depend on the dividends from their investments. If you increase taxes on small and large businesses, they will hire fewer people and the middle and lower classes will continue to be jobless. And yes, some companies will get fed up and go overseas, which is their right. It's their money and they can do whatever they want with it. You would have the same right. Obama is NOT business-friendly and that is why his economical plan is failing. He wants government to regulate and control everything.

I don't know what has happened to Americans. Maybe the younger ones are the result of socialist public schools, but they seem to have adopted European attitudes and believe that government is there to take care of them. We are supposed to take care of ourselves. I am so thankful for the disability I receive but I know it could end tomorrow and probably will one of these days. I would be willing to get less money if it would help the economy come back. There is always a way. And if you have faith in God, you know that He will make a way and always provide for our needs. People just get impatient and don't let Him help them.

I paid income tax for 34yrs and then became disabled. I depend on the government now. As usual, hindsight is always 20/20. I didn't prepare for a rainy day or retirement. However, when I heard what Romney said, I thought about it for a moment and then realized that he was telling the truth. There are 47% who are going to vote for Obama no matter what. It's in the polls every day. He wasn't putting anyone down, just stating a fact. And there are 47% who don't pay income tax, myself included. I wasn't insulted at all. I'm proud of my life whether I'm working or on disability because I don't live according to the world. I refuse to let my situation change my values. I still hate abortion and to me, that is number one. I still believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. I still live by the Word of God and therefore, I can never vote for a man who doesn't want to give help to an infant who survives a failed abortion or a man who has mocked the Bible. It's not about me. It is about what is best for my fellow man and for my country. As the media keeps trying to convince us that the economy is improving, I look around and see people still out of work and businesses closed. I see food prices going sky-high because with the printing of money the value of the dollar has gone down significantly. Jesus said we will know them by their fruit. If we pay attention to His words, the choice should be easy this November.

I also want to add that two minutes of that fundraiser tape was left out...soooo shocked based on the mountain of lies that the currant administration has put out to the people "as facts", of which all have been proven as lies. Something tells me there will be more major lies uncovered in the future.

I can understand the "world" believing a lie, although "Christians" don't have an excuse...but the Bible does say that even the elect will be deceived.

Excellent post.

I could be wrong with the wording here, although teaching agendas were changed in the 1920's. We went to a "progressive" form of teaching.

I was shocked to see how the curriculum had changed. Back in the 1800's children in the 8th grade had higher levels of knowledge than those that walk out of the colleges today. Sad, really sad.

Actually, quite a bit more than that was left out. For instance, he made a terrific case against the Federal Reserve and yet, nobody's talking about that part.

I don't doubt this one bit. And want to say that I was more than impressed with what the media did show (wish they would have been honest though and shown the entire speech). Here he was talking to a group of people who were "potential" investers in his campaign and did not blow smoke up their backsides..he was straight up and told them that close to the majority might not vote for him. I respect that.

Thank you for saying that. I once posted on a Christian forum that the elect will be deceived and many said that I was misinterpreting the verse and it is actually saying the elect won't be deceived, because Jesus added "if it were possible". I still think they will be deceived because they already are.

They won't talk about it because they are afraid. The Federal Reserve is owned by the international bankers who run everything. It was the cause of JFK's assassination. And that is probably why Mitt Romney will be defeated. I wonder if the whole video can be seen online.

Wow...and this is why at any cost, no matter how the lies and deceptions mount concerning the current administration, the liberal media and other entities will support the lie 110%...scary.
