  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

More of a Gordon Clark man, myself...

The whole Van Til/Clark "controversy" is kinda sad in my opinion. I think John Robbins is to Clark, what Bahnsen was to Van Til. To be honest though, a great deal of Trinity Foundation efforts are focused in overly negative light. Clark is worth reading in my opinion, I own a number of his books, among them, one of the few logic textbooks written by a Christian. The others I know of, one written by Issac Watts (Reformed), Norman Geisler ("moderate Calvinist" whatever that is), Peter Kreeft (Catholic), and most recently Joel McDurmon (Reformed). I'd say in general though, most people are just not "into" writing logic texts...they tend to get dry fast. lol

I'm on to -rereading "The Trial of Job" by Silas Durand. It can be found in epub format here.

Durand views Job as a type of the church and his friends as rank Arminians. He seems steady in his typology, not going overboard missing the person of Job for the type and he doesn't accuse Job's friends of free will works religions without giving reasons for doing so.

Excellent read and can't wait to go through it again.

The death of death in the death of Christ - John Owen.

The Great Hunt - Robert Jordan :)

On Wednesday at Church our group decided to do a study over the book of Romans using John Macarthur's study tools. I am pleased and excited. This could be a breakthrough for many.
