I am careful. Again, thank you for your concern. :)

Breast feeding is how God created us. The whole thing with Paul and the pagans was to show that everything God creates is Good. Breastfeeding included. Paul also said not to eat meat around those that are weak and so I do not wish to "eat meat" around any who are weak.

But God made woman and gave her breasts to feed/milk her young and there is no evil in that. It is beautiful to me.

Yea, but the breast thing came out of paganism.

u know what i mean.

I am sorry you think that I am hiding something. Or maybe playing some childish game. I thought we were having a mature and intellectual discussion.

Please... if there is something I am overlooking, then please say what it is.

You will find that I am very honest and do not know things others take for granted. I am, after all, only human. :)

Are you saying breast feeding came from paganism???

Surely, that is not what you are saying. :)
According to Jesus in Luke 21:23, the OC Jews practiced it also :)

Luke 21:23 Woe yet to the-ones in belly having, and to those giving suck in those, the days.
For shall be great necessity on the Land and Wrath in the People, this

Reve 15:1 And I visioned another Sign in the heaven, great and marvelous
Messengers seven, having stripes/blows seven, the last, that in them is-finished the Fury of the God.

..............The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover.............

.........Meanwhile the horrors of famine grew still more melancholy and afflictive.
The Jews, for want of food were at length compelled to eat their belts, their sandals, the skins of their shields, dried grass, and even the ordure of oxen. In the depth or this horrible extremity, a Jewess of noble family urged by the intolerable cravings of hunger, slew her infant child, and prepared it for a meal ;

I was mentioning Early Christian writings having to do with Mary and Joseph and so I thought I should provide links for anyone interested.

CHURCH FATHERS: The Apocalypse of the Virgin

CHURCH FATHERS: The History of Joseph the Carpenter

CHURCH FATHERS: Assumption of Mary

And to avoid a false accusation or assumption I would like to add these are not doctrine and that one need not believe them for salvation. However they are writings that Christians used in the early church to explain the same teachings the Catholic Church is defending here.

Hi bro and thanks for those links.
Isn't there a controversy on whether Mary remained a perpetual vigin after Jesus was born?

I found the poll results rather interesting on this thread.
God bless

There's been some weird ideas and beliefs that have come out of Medugorje.expect. ;)

In The Times today, http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/faith/article2686110.ece

In case it won't let people read it, the headline is 'Visions of the Madonna - or the devil's mischief?'

Part of the article goes

"Until this year the Vatican has said nothing on Medjugorje, beyond stating that Catholics are allowed to visit in private groups, accompanied by a priest, but diocesan-run pilgrimages are forbidden. A cardinal has also said that the local bishop’s opinion is private and not binding. In March Pope Benedict said that an international commission would investigate the apparitions. Its findings will be published by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Vatican’s doctrinal watchdog.

“Since Benedict has become Pope, the Congregation has started to regulate these things \[visions\] rather than let them carry on,” says Foley. He believes the duration of the apparitions, and that they are said to occur daily, causes concern in the Vatican."

I thought it was RC and EO dogma and unresolved in Lutheranism.

It's actually not dogma in the EOC; it's just universally believed.

In the EOC a "dogma" is a teaching that is there to act sort of as a guard rail to keep us from straying from the path of knowing God as he has revealed Himself. We are not saved in order to know Mary, so we have no "Marian dogmas". All EOC dogmas pertain to who God is.

As to the OP:

If Mary were to ever appear to me, I would assume it was a demon and discuss it with my spiritual father, and tell no one else. It is very easy for a demon to give us occasion to grow our pride by thinking that we're spiritually advanced enough for a saint or angel to appear to us and reveal something to us. We should assume we're not at that level and not trust the apparition.

There was once a monk that saw what he believed to be a vision of Mary outside his cell. He saw the vision for several nights and never said anything to his elder. One particular foggy night "Mary" beckoned him to follow her. He followed her through the fog for some time until he took a step and realized that there was no ground under his foot. He pulled his foot away and took a few steps back. He focused his eyes and felt in front of him and realized that he was at the edge of a cliff. Had he continued to follow "Mary" he would have been led right off a cliff to his death. He repented of his pride and went and spoke to his elder about the matter, which he should have done the very first time he saw the vision.

Good advise.

Padre Pio said Satan would visit sometimes and appear as a Saint such as Mary. But Padre Pio also had a strong gift of discernment and knew.

I do not know that I would be able to discern. So, I too would be safe than sorry.
