  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where in the story does it say that this Lazarus is a Jew?
.
Lazarus is that Jew who Jesus have temporary resurrected from the dead because he hath faith during his lifetime ...

https://blog.israelbiblicalstudies....rection-lazarus-jewish-tradition-john-121-44/

John 11:1-44

1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister Martha.

2 And it was that Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.

The story begins with introducing to us Lazarus (in Hebrew Eliezer, which means God will help) who resides in Bethany (in Hebrew Beit Aniah, which means the House of the Poor). These Hebrew names are not coincidental.

Continue to read John 11:1-44 to see what happened...

There's no reason to think this is the same Lazarus. You're just making an assumption.
Luke 16:19-31 talk about the Lazarus who have been temporary resurrected ..

27 And he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house; 28 for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29 But Abraham saith, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent.

31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.

Can you explain?
Abraham's bosom was located -just outside the limit- of the place called Hades...
Luke 16:23
23 And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

That's hardly conclusive evidence.

So you're saying Abraham's bosom is not heaven, and Hades is not hell, but they're both real physical places where the dead go? So then there's heaven, hell, Abraham's bosom and Hades? Anything else out there beyond the grave that I should know about?

How many LAZARUS have been resurrected from the dead by Jesus.
This parable doesn't say that this Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus! You can't even prove that the verse about sending someone from the dead is referring to Lazarus at all. In fact, in this parable nobody is raised from the dead!

-Hell will be the Lake of Fire

-Jesus was resurrected in flesh and bones Luke 24:37-39 .

-When the believers will be resurrected in their immortal physical body that will be to live eternally with Jesus on the Earth...

We only know of one, that same one he resurrected. So anyways, the story is obviously a parable. I don't know how you can possibly think it actually happened, just because he used the name Lazarus. The whole thing is absurd. You can't even explain what is Hades and Abraham's Bosom.

That was in reply to your request :
-Anything else out there beyond the grave that I should know about.-
Oh, I meant are there any other potential destinations that we could go to after we die. So far we have heaven, hell, hades and abraham's bosom. That's four.

Oh, i see !
Abraham bosom is empty since Jesus's resurrection....those who were there have ascended to Heaven waiting for the resurrection.

That's an interesting theory. Is Abraham's bosom mentioned anywhere else in scripture?

Why does it matter ?Hades on the other hand is mentioned many times ...

see 8 most revelant verses
8 Bible verses about Hades

Acts 2:27
BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT ABANDON MY SOUL TO HADES, NOR ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.

Revelation 20:13
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire This is the second death, the lake of fire.

Because your theory holds no water and that makes it even more obvious that it's a parable, not a true story.
The Rich Man and Lazarus is effectively among the parables used by Jesus ...Does that mean the parable does not refers to something concerning the two principal person mentioned by Jesus ie the well known Lazarus and the Rich Man...who have died during Jesus' time ?
KJV list of Jesus' parables :
The Parables of JESUS - King James Version (KJV)
