What do we do to prevent another Las Vegas?

because then you would know who had which guns which means it would ( later) be easier to take them). It has happened before.

Interesting. So why are gun owners more important than people with health issues? You see gun owners like to say that those who have mental health issues are barred from owning a gun but that means there's a "list" or ways of finding out about that. But YOU GUYS are so much more important that you don't want to be on any "list".

Does it feel good to be the most important Americans?

Registry doesn't do a thing but give government "too much" oversight. They know exactly where each and every weapon is (thinking about Hitler keeping track of each Jew...) Besides, this latest pervert bought 33 weapons this last year, I think, and had a background check for each one... so why didn't the government at least pay him a visit?
Because those weapons aren't registered, so no one flagged the fact he was buying so many?

Well, it does. If we are talking about three people well of course that happens about every day, but if we are talking about 10, 20, 50 people then that is different.

American has among the highest rates of gun homicides per capita of any nation in the industrialized world.

No matter how you cut it.

Can I ask you: if someone broke into your home tomorrow could you honestly shoot them in the head in your living room? I don't ask that flippantly and I want you to honestly think about the answer you give. When I watch documentaries about various wars and see interviews with men who had to kill on the battlefield and how it tears them up...and they were actively being shot at by the enemy they ultimately killed, tell me how prepared YOU are to take a human life.

Will you be FAST ENOUGH to respond? Will you KNOW WITH CERTAINTY that deadly force was the only action you could take? And will you sleep well after seeing a human head explode in front of you and splatter the brains all over your living room?

Will you?

I would hate to be in that situation and I'm not entirely certain I would have the wherewithal to do everything right. But I hear my fellow Americans (usually men) daydream about how much like John Wayne they'd be. How rough and tough and steely eyed they'd be. I wonder if they would. And I wonder if they could process the feelings of seeing another human being blown apart in front of them by their own hand.

That's what shotguns are for rofl.

Oh, I believe you can get there, but I'll start you off... if the high number of firearms in the US correlates to the high number of shootings, and you want to REDUCE the number of shootings... then you also need to... REDUCE... what?

...ummmmm.....I know! The people who dared to visit a psychologist or psychiatrist ever in their lives!

Do I win????

I did not say it led to a high number of shootings. I stated that considering How MANY firearms there are it is not reasonable to try to remove them all. Moreover, it is NOT the guns it is the people. The VAST majority of guns in this country have killed no one and have not even been AIMED at a human being.

Because it's not illegal to buy "so many".
I knew a guy that owned 50 guns. About half of them were handguns and the other half were long guns. Should I have somehow "flagged" him to the authorities for it?

First of all, not all dogs are registered. Second of all cars ONLY have to be registered if THAT particular car is going to be driven on a public road. Thirdly I was talking about Germany during world warII not in this country yet.

It depends on how one one defines a mass shooting.
I'm pretty sure the US wins the "most mass shootings in the industrialised world" by ANY definition of "mass shooting".

I did not deny that, but not all shootings are mass shootings. In fact most of them are not. You and I both know there are MANY ways to commit homicide.

Hmmm and if you remove the skewed examples like LA, NO, and Chicago...what happens to your argument?

The same type of places that have strict gun control and high poverty.
