On the contrary, given the circumstances, I think it was a fair exchange. If you act like a jerk or troll, you should expect to be treated like one.

I don't know, I can't recall another example online.
I've heard similar use of language, though less exaggerated, when talking face-to-face to people with old dialects, e.g. in Cornwall ("my deerio", "my luvver"), and it was fairly common in the UK at one time, particularly in rural areas, to address women as "dear" and "love", but it's been considered patronising and sexist for many years now.
But there's a significant difference between such casual use in face-to-face social interaction among close friends & family, and using it of strangers in online discussion, when it comes across as more sarcastic than "my friend" ("Listen, my friend, you're being a jerk...").

Secondly, saying I understand why something happened doesn't mean I agree with it.
The irony I saw was that you called 46AND2's post mundane and advised him to cease and told him that his input was not needed, when I and others felt the same about many of your posts.
More simply, it was intended to reflect a rude response back on its author, i.e. a way of saying, "don't be a jerk".
Is that clear enough?
