Well thanks for clarifying.

If you do not know my basic modus operandi when encountering any christian, particularly of the higher powers of authority, but even here it is this first and foremost:

hmmm? I wonder how this person is going to figure out how to eternally burn me alive or eternally kill me?

I hope you find this flavor in all of my posts because that is exactly where I go first.

I guess I had not remembered that.

Is Meyer an exception to this standard of Christian discourse? Uh, entirely NO. In fact she get's to do so using tax free donations.
I don't consider that to be her fault. Or a fault at all.

I'd agree that most of her stuff is in the arena of 'self helps.' But give her half a chance and she'd sling another believer into hell with the best of 'em.
Would she?

I bet I could raise her hackles in an honest conversation about it in a short period of time.
That's all quite iffy, if you ask me.

If she was really really honest she'd be telling us how to set up the tax free 501C3 corp first and foremost as that is exactly where she herself SCORES.
Why? Can't she spend her time speaking on religious matters instead of tax issues? Any why would this make her dishonest?

Let's be real here. ;)
That's what I was thinking, too.

Cheers.

I will admit to being sensitized to the ways and means of my condemnation to burn alive forever. I think most let it go in one ear and out the other without a thought. Emphasis on 'without a thought.'

In Meyer's case in particular if a person, even a believer, doesn't believe that Jesus went to hell to pay for our sins, they are not saved.

Statements of this nature can be quite short, and of course quite fantastical heresy as well.

That's when I say, OK, enough of the Mrs. Potato Head Gospel for me.

Heresy has paid pretty well for a lot of people.

hmmm? I wonder why?

Uh, no, I don't wonder why.

It looks like your beef is with Christianity itself, and Joyce Meyer just happened along at the wrong time. ;)

She tends to speak on living here and now, not on the afterlife. Like her or dislike her, she's anything BUT a fire-and-brimstone type. So, once again, an unfortunate choice of target if that is your issue.

You are welcome to think that condemning other believers to burn alive forever or eternally kill them either outright or as a possibility is Christian.

Needless to say, I don't.

Now wait a minute. Who's "condemning other believers to burn alive forever?" Who did you have in mind, and what's your evidence?

If that is anyone's fate, it's because God makes the judgment, not any of us.

Hi RR.
Self centeredness is not a fruit of Spirit.
IS she self centered? I'm not sure. I don't really know that much
about her.
Am I self centered? In so many ways, yes, I have to admit that I can be.
I can't judge what the rent money thing was about because it was taken out of context.

I'm probably the last person you want to talk to about financial things .
I try to "give no thought". And I realize that's going to come off as "irresponsible"
But once again, I view it the same as I do health issues.
He really IS the God who healeth us, He really IS the God
who provides ALL of my needs.

So to me, money is not something I spend a lot of energy on.
Poverty is a spiritual problem, not a money problem.
We can give money, but that won't fix the problem
the gospel is what will "fix" the problem:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he hath anointed me to
preach the gospel to the poor
;
he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach

We can put all of our trust in God.. So if someone's poor,
IMO, all they need to do is go to God and find out whatup
with that.
He really will provide all we need.

No problem!
Again we do view this differently because
our definition of "The church" is different.

Not at all! No worries at all.

That's fine, and I'm not a fangirl of Joyces , so no worries.

Eck!
I hope you can forgive him.
Glad you were not pulled in.
There's a strong warfare against ministries.
Riches, pride and sex are two of the most commonly
seen baits with men and women of God.
Hope Joyce isn't a cheat.
Right.
Well I have no problem with folks having lots of money.
UNLESS it will have their heart and they'll lose everything.
(Like your ex friend could if things don't change)
:groupray:

Yes i have forgiven him and even pray that God will truly bless him. I've never felt it was his intention to be evil or sinful. Just a man struggling through life.
Likewise with Joyce (although she has no reason to be forgiven by me as she has not trespassed against me. I also see much good in her. A talented speaker who does promote Christ.I'd even say some have come to a closer walk with Christ after hearing some of her words. The same can be said of my old friend. Oddly with all I said about him he showed me about walking the walk and not just talking the talk. Ironic isn't it? The failings of a man or woman of God can break our heart more than anything else.
BTW I don't think our definition of Christ's Church is as different as you suppose. My definition is quite short and simple: "Those who are true believers".

You have a bad impression of Joyce Meyer because some one of thousands of attendees at one of her lectures came back with a joke she could have picked up from anywhere. Wonderful.

You mean that you had a bad impression of Joyce Meyer and found this convenient to pin on her although you have absolutely no evidence that it came from her. Wonderful.

Did I say that your impression--however ridiculous--was not allowed? No, I did not.

Hmmm.
Why would it have come from her?
What's the difference if the women came from
lunch or from work or from the club or from church?
Women will be women.
Haters will hate lol
I don't follow this line of reasoning either.

I'm afraid our friend has had enough of dissing Joyce Meyer and has moved onto another thread where his next post was "love is all that matters." :sigh:

Maybe you inspired people here with your outcalling.
I notice you don't let anyone get away with anything.
Cool :)
I look forward to your critique sometime too.
Anyone who's posting in GT should be able to take it
as well as give it out.
Feel free to give me a word when I'm being silly.

i do not agree with everything she teaches

but i have admit, she seem to really understand problems most Christians faces incl worrying, self esteem , wrong ungodly thinking and forgiveness, and she has this gift of preach in a way that make you see God words in a whole new different light and help you understand how to implement them

some of her teachings really helped me a lot.

Self- Esteem and Christ do not mix at all... They Are Diametrically opposing thoughts. You can't be a christian and have self-esteem or self worth. IF you do not understand why, you might want to check and see if you're in the family.
