You provided only a portion of the definition of repent (metanoia) and I provided the full definition and according to the full definition remorse is a part of repentance. When you repent of sin and turn to God you regret having offended Him. Your heart no longer desires sin and when you do stumble your heart aches with sorrow for having failed God. I don’t know how someone can have a genuine repentance without heart felt remorse of their sins.

Repentance is the same as forgiveness. An unemotional legal transaction is all that is required. Anything beyond that is unmeasurable. How much remorse is required? If you weren't remorseful enough was it "genuine" repentance? Again, how are these things measured.

Would Jesus have forgiven him if he hadn't wept bitterly?
What if he only wept, but not bitterly?
Or if he was sad but didn't shed a tear?

Why does there have to be a measurement? Who says there must be a measurement? I can’t even understand how repentance is unemotional. I can’t even fathom the idea of repentance without emotion. If salvation is by grace alone then it is measurable. Jesus paid it in full.

Let me rephrase what I said in reply to your message. In Judaism Jews are required to pray 3 times per day. I didn’t mean that God has required them to pray 3 times per day. I’m not aware of any such commandment.
