Tell me if you think we could do that with any other group of people. Let's say there is one umbrella term that includes a lot of slightly different groups. And we find that someone in one group has sexually assaulted a child. Hey, why not say lots of them have done that. Do you think we could include 'minor attracted adults' as one of the groups under that umbrella term? Should we associate that quaint euphemism with the word we use to encompass all the groups?

Yes. But not in the way that It's being misrepresented. I mean, who in their right mind thinks that that term means 'I'm coming for your child because I want to have sex with her.'

Let's talk about those guys in the original video. Guys who turn up each week to practice as a choir. Learn a few new songs. Sing at different events. Enjoy one of two evening a week in convivial company and enjoy the music. They have friends outside the choir. They have jobs. Work colleagues. Family. They go shopping like we do. Watch tv. Go out for a meal now and then. Walk the dog. Just everyday things that we all do. But how are they treated?

Well, some piece of dirt decided that he'd edit the video to show that some of them had sexually assaulted children. Because..? Well, because they were gay and sang a song, using a convenient rightwing bumper sticker trope to poke fun at bigots and people ran around like headless chooks saying 'Look! They're admitting it! It's true!'

Do you really and honestly think that was what was meant? No, of course you don't. But it's still posted on a Christian forum and presented as being true. And some people will still tell you that they are not convinced that it was a put up job. And that these people did sexually assault children. So we should include that in their 'group'. So if you are gay then you associate and are quite possibly yourself, someone who would rape a child.

What's actually being said by some in this forum is that they will teach their children that 'these people' are perverts, 'deserve death', that they are an obscenity. That they deserve condemnation. That they deserve no respect. That they can be compared to those who commit bestiality. You know this. You've seen all these comments. They are in every thread about gay people. Every one. And what were those guys singing about? What they were saying was if that is how you are going to bring up your children, that is the way you are teaching them to treat us then we will show them that you are wrong.

And where are we now? Well, just a suggestion that we should add a euphemism for child rapists to the letters lgbtq. That's where we are now.
