@Bradskii someone keeps unintentionally adding weight to your perception of conservatives
There's a reason why it's supposed to be. Jesus said that we will be judged according to what measure we use to judge others and the merciful will receive mercy. But that mercy is not to be squandered. The flesh dies on the cross.

Jesus suffered and by his stripes we are healed, and he gave his blood, his life, so that sins may be forgiven. So, there are two sides by which we approach the power of the cross and there are two ways to receive the Gospel, for the Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. There is accuse and excuse both coming and going.

God is gathering in His grace through faith. Some people will see the wrath of God in the crucifixion, and some people will see the loving mercy of God in the crucifixion. Therefore, some preach mercy and understanding towards sinners, and some preach the fear of God with fire and brimstone. This is why we must try to be objective. This is the Menorah and the two olive trees, where two sides share the same oil. One side must understand the other side to find Christ in the middle and the closer they approach the center the brighter the Menorah becomes as the lamp fills with oil.

If a person out of love feels in their conscience the duty to rebuke sin, God sees it. If a gay person in their conscience is merciful and understanding towards those who persecute them, God sees it. The cross is at the center between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant and fulfills both. Judge not lest you be judged applies two ways when we see objectively with both eyes.

Matthew 13:52
52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Many gay people keep it secret from their families because of such intolerance, so while you might well be correct in this for your family, there are many families in which such secrets exist.

Ok so why do you guys try to make us Christians sound like we are bad or something? That's us. Then, I understand that there are others like who you seak of. In the good ol days, they used to be discrete and not flaunt their sexulity on their shirt sleeve. Now they are all screaming for recognition and it's ludicrous.

Hey you know what I noticed? The gays really didn't take God's rainbow for their flag...the gay rainbow is 6 colors and God's rainbows are 7 colors. I wonder why? There's some numerology going on there I think. 6 is the number of man, and 7 means God I believe. So that would fit. Not 7 for God, but 6 for man.

I think the scriptures are clear in condemning sin. But God didn’t appoint me to be the judge or the avenger. It’s my place to treat everyone the way I would like to be treated. That’s what I try to do. I don’t condone the sin or promote it. But it’s not my place to tell others what to do unless they ask for my opinion or advice.

I hear you. Our actions affect others in a society. When I have to correct someone it's almost always about their being selfish, including with mercy. I don't want to have to correct people, but since I like being corrected, it's treating others as I would want to be treated.

You guys? I don't know why you would feel bad and I hope you don't. That was not my intention.

However, I think you must know that there are people who keep their true nature from their families and friends. There will be any number of reasons why but I can't help thinking that they fear the reaction of parents and friends.
In the good ol days, they used to be discrete and not flaunt their sexulity
I think that is revealing. There was nothing good about the days when being gay carried a stigma, when people's lives were blighted by hostility and hatred. When heterosexual people 'flaunt their sexuality' most people actually approve. It sounds like double standards to me.

That's true. And I'm trying not to tar every conservative with the same brush. But there are so many with the same attitudes that it's hard separating the wheat from the chaff at times.

Actually it is hard to find any wheat among the chaff.*

(* I know, cheap shot.)

To quote you: this is just snide
But c'mon. We both know @Whyayeman well enough to know there was no real bad intent. A 'cheap shot' has no humour intended. His comment should raise a wry smile from both sides of the debate and is an opportunity for a dig back ('and youn are the wheat? Corn more like it...').

Or maybe that could have been 'a rye smile.'

It’s all in fun, just giving back a little of his own medicine

"Gay is icky" and "getting it on [you]" isn't in scripture.

Yes I have concluded that it is icky. Have you ever woke up with a song playing in your head that you listened to last night? That happens because whatever we allow into our head leaves a residue there. And everything is like that on earth. Do drugs once. You will want to do it again. Committ adultery on your Wife and you are going to want to cheat again. So it must leave a residue like everything else.

And it is in scripture! It just doesn't say it quite that way. I'll find it for you, and then you can agree or disagree, lol.

Now can we all agree that what we dwell on makes its way to our heart? I daydreamed so much about that girl that I fell in love with her. Right? So what we think about we connect with. And what we connect with makes it to our heart and becomes a part of who we are.
Oh, the scripture!

Proverbs 24:23-27
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.

27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.../KJV

In the previous chapter it says how what a man thinks about becomes who he is because a man speaks from the heart.

Proverbs 23:7
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.../KJV

So you see you can't eat with gays. You can't accept them into your church. You shouldn't even be debating with them, lol. It might get on you! This is truth.

I really don't care. It seems that just about anything at all can be justified by reference to scripture.

And why not? It is the book of truth.

Not a book of truth. The book of truth.

But you are right, repenting from being gay is easily shown in scripture. Thats why reading the Bible a lot is so important. Because as you read it a lot it too, will fill your heart and cause the previous bad things in your heart to overflow and run out of your heart...to be replaced with Gods word.

The moment one says God's word is wrong they are in rebellion against God. That's not something that I am prepared to do.

In a world of deception there is a place that we can go to for the truth. It's all over the place! Everybody has a Bible! You have to read it for yourself instead of taking some preachers word for it. Then you will know the truth.

No, I didn't say what you think I said. Let's get something straight. You or I don't get to say what the other person means and then criticize them based on our own mischaracterization.
Man I quoted you. You said what you said. Now if you weren't clear enough for me then that's something else. On forums like this we all say things and then later have to clarify what we meant. After all you know what you meant. I don't. I just have to go by what you said. And you said people were using pride parades to create outrage using propaganda. I even believe you used the word lying.
