I hadn't seen the original. Maybe they are saying it's 80s vibe but more polished. All I know is I'd recommend Maverick.

Been a while since I've seen the original. Cannot remember it too well other than not liking it. All I remember was that it was a heterosexual love story with homoerotic elements behind it.

Although some of the cinematography was beautiful.. and it has a cheesy yet upbeat 1980s soundtrack. Songs made for the movie that are frequently still played on the radio to this day.

I re-watched Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom in preparation for the new one coming out.

--I know it got mixed reviews, but I love the Jurassic franchise & love all the movies & this one isn't an exception.
--I really like how it draws a lot from The Lost World. It's kind of like "this is what The Lost World did, how can we expand on it?"
--The Indoraptor is a big improvement from the Indominous in JW. Lot scarier.
--Most of the movie takes place at the mansion, & people get bored of that, but you can't really trim any. Also, I timed it; the first 1/2 of the movie takes place on the island & is set up, the second 1/2 is at the mansion. So it's about 50-50.
--The Baryonyx attacking in the cave w/ lava pouring thru the cieling!
--The girl's a clone!

5/5

Going in spoiler-free for the new one. Haven't even watched the trailer! I hope it's good!

I wasn't impressed with Fallen Kingdom, I don't remember why perhaps it was a cookie cutter plot that was too predictable or maybe acting/characters/dialog issues or goofy ideas behind things that don't add anything but distraction I can't rember why I rated it slightly lower than IMDB did at 6.1. That being said the fact the franchise has not been stellar in my ratings with the highest rating from me of a 7.5/10 the fact that the lowest rating is a 6.1 to me is remarkable as most series that last more than 3 movies even with reboots have some sequels that drop below 6 to even low 5s or less and on my scale a low 5 is simply filler, like elevator music or background noise to distract you from boring silence or other unwanted noises. With hollywood going off the cliff like lemmings trying to outwoke each other I don't hold a lot of hope that there will be many movies that don't have considerable cringe moments and that my eyes would not get sore from rolling.

I loved the first Jurassic Park movie; the sequel was ok.. but after that the quality really dropped. The dinosaurs used to act more like animals which made them scary, but now they act more like monsters.

Personally, it would be cool if they did a remake of the first film using scientifically more accurate looking dinosaurs. With feathers and looking more like birds and whatnot.

That's fine. I know a lot of people don't care for ANY of the sequels. I like them all. :sunglasses:
I like them but not standing alone, rather because they are decent for a sequel but mediocre by themselves. I collect movies of a series I like usually getting all the movies but the ones that are pretty bad I usually pick up for dirt cheap I don't go out and try to find them instead I stumble across it at a garage sale or flea market or something. I tend to watch the weaker sequels when I watch the whole series through like a sort of binging thing.

A Bug's Life. Watched this probably a hundred times as a child. Been years since I've seen it and rewatching it is more nostalgia and emotional than I expected. They don't make movies or even Pixar movies like this anymore.

I watched Antz all the time too. Woody Allen is hilarious in it. Probably the better movie of the two, even if it was probably plagiarized from a Bug's Life.

I've never watched both of them close enough together to remember if they are that similar

Maybe plagiarize is too strong of a word. Still, they have very similar themes. Jeffery Katzenberg had a falling out with Disney and was strongly suspected of taking of lot of their project for his film Antz. It is a little strange that two bug centric CGI movies came out in the same year, lol.

Maybe there was a RAID of the script room and Katzenberg bugged out.

That's always been an intriguing thing about movies, when they launch two films with similar concepts the same year. One of the more random ones is First Daughter and Chasing Liberty in 2004. Both had the oddly specific premise of the president's daughter going off to college and falling in love. In this case, neither did well at the box office.

Not totally surprising as people talk to each other that used to work at the same places about this and that.

The common consensus on A Bug's Life is it's good, but just that, good. I had the same opinion. But then I met a big movie buff who loved A Bug's Life & convinced me it's more than good, it's a criminally underrated.

I've only seen Antz a couple times, so about 1000 times less then a ABL. I don't remember much of it.

I just watched 'The Manson Family.' It's in the style of a documentary w/ fictionalized interviews & acted out scenes. It's.......not what I was expecting. I don't really recommend it b/c it's kind of hodgepodge in structure. A couple of the murder scenes were good. I give it a 2/5.

It's good. Not my favorite Pixar movie, but it's better than a lot of the garbage their making nowadays, lol. My favorite Pixar movie is still the Incredibles.

Hard to rate them all though.. although for right now its..

1. The Incredibles
2. Toy Story
3. Finding Nemo
4. A Bug's Life
5. Monsters Inc

And I don't really care much and haven't seen the rest. Always hated those Toy Story sequels. I don't know how they still get high ratings. Especially Toy Story 4.

Antz, I prefer it a little more. Mainly because it has more adult dialog (occasional swearing) and deals with the similar themes with a little more depth.

It's made by the same studio who gave us Shrek. So, if you like that movie, Antz has a pretty similar tone.
