I just got back. It was very long. & a bit too dark tone-wise. & I'm not sure I liked the political message. & I don't like how 'Jesus' is said so much as a curse word.People say this ties into the roots of the comic more, which I think was inspired by detective noir. They also say it looks like the comics. I haven't read too many Batman comics but it is definitely different and refreshing in those ways. He doesn't use technology as much and he's more isolated than usual. Bruce Wayne is almost non-existent. His life is being Batman.
But I liked it. The detective stuff is very well handled. Despite it being too dark, I still liked the overall feel of the movie. Batman (not Bruce Wayne) indeed is in it the majority of the movie. All the villians were well-done. I liked the corruption themes. It's Batman!
I don't think it's as good as everyone's saying. 1989 Batman still the best one, & I'd probably still put the Christian Bale movies ahead of it (not sure which one, there's elements of all 3 I liked)
