The compilation of Lewis books I've been reading from has 8 of his best known spiritual works. I confess to not having read Narnia or The Space Trilogy before, but I certainly would like to.

I attempted to read two books again today (tried both before sometime back, and they weren't my cup of tea): How to Be a Stoic and Flow. The first featured too much sociopolitical stuff and very little from what I read (half of the chapters) on how actually to apply stoic wisdom, and the latter, for a positive psychology book, was much too negative.

Finished Anil's Ghost by Michael Ondaatje who I think is possibly the best or among best living novelists. Now I'm rereading The Sun Also Rises. It may have been the eighties when last (and first) I read it. Extraordinary novel, but I've always loved Hemingway - saying so much so sparsely.

I'm starting Fascinating Womanhood today by Dixie Andelin. It's the updated version and I'm curious to see how it differs from the original. Supposedly she changed a lot and removed the Christian elements. I'll read the original afterwards.

I felt it was time to cover Pray Like a Gourmet by David Brazzeal. It discusses creative ways to feed the soul. I'd like to employ a contemplative approach to my work and interests. I'm envisioning creativity as a meditation of sorts where the outcome is wound around the Lord. Where faith is art and art is faith and so on.

We Are What We Eat: A Slow Food Manifesto by Alice Waters

I almost forgot I checked it out and its due in two days. Great topic. I'm passionate about slow food and slow living and love her work. This should be good.

I found two interesting books:

When the Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka and Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata. They’re ideal for summer. I’m starting a Brave New World by Aldous Huxley this weekend.

I heard about Lanny (by Max Porter) on a YouTube channel and decided to read it since the book is short. I just finished Convenience Store Woman. It was a little bizarre. Something less odd is ideal.

I’m sticking to my challenge. The negative number represents the number I need to read to catch up.

Lately, I've been reading books on computer programming and various academic publications. I could list them here, but they're relatively dry and mostly used as reference material. Other than articles on the internet, it has been a while since I've had time to read for pleasure. When I did have more time for this, I gravitated toward history, hard science fiction, and short story anthologies.

Neptune by Ben Bova. It is his last book (he died in 2020). It is part of the Grand Tour series set in the not-too-distant future and tells of Humanity's exploration and colonization of our Solar System. The books are each individual contained stories so there is no need to read others or to read them in any order. Most of the books are set on a specific planet or moon within the Solar System.
