  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have several books I have to read for classes I'm taking this upcoming school year. I've loved some of them and been unenthusiastic about others. Right now I'm reading "Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed" by Jared Diamond, "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote, and "A Tale of Two Cities" by Dickens, and I actually really like all of them! :)

The Second Coming: A Love Story by Scott Pinsker
Two men claim to be the second coming of Christ. Each claims the other is Satan in disguise. But only one is telling the truth. Crazy, mindblowing thriller that will twist your brain into knots as you try to figure out who is who.

The Shack by William Young
A grieving father is asked by God to visit the shack where his daughter was supposedly killed senselessly. Real emotional. Young is one of my fav writers, and this book is really potent and moving. Would be a good movie too.

Bridge to Haven by Francine Rivers
A glamorous superstar who fight as hard as she could to escape her ugly upbringing suddenly finds herself searching for a way back home. A little breezy, but nice for the summertime.
