  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am on a Revolutionary War kick.

Just about the finish Angel In The Whirlwind, an excellent overview of the whole war, with only one quibble, not enough detailed maps.

Next up, three of the most popular biographies on George Washington by Ron Chernow, Joseph J Ellis, & James Thomas Flexner.

I'm currently reading tow Christian fiction novels called 15 Minutes by Karen Kingsbury and Last Light by Terri Blackstock.

I have read just one of Karen Kingsbury's novels - One Tuesday Morning. It was good, but I haven't been drawn to any of her other books. What is 15 Minutes like?

I haven't heard of Terri Blackstock.

Did you see the thread on this forum about Christian Fiction?

Amongst other books I am currently reading Philip Yancy's 'Soul Survivor'. My son lent it to me a couple of years ago and, while at the start it was easy enough to read, now that I'm approaching the end, I'm struggling.

Long may we continue to be able to read!
