• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Romans 14 speaks about not quarreling over the following opinions:
  1. Whether to eat meat vs do not eat meat
  2. Whether to fast vs not fast.
  3. Whether to observe Holy Days vs do not observe Holy Days.
  4. Whether to drink wine vs do not drink wine (vs 21).
See a pattern? Paul does not want Christians to judge one another on those surface issues. Neither does he want them to cause others to stumble.

Read Acts 10 and Acts 15 for more information.
Sorry No holy day mentioned

In context...

One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

It is all regarding fasting days...

Stop reading into the text what is not there. The context is found in verse 1. Now receive the one who is weak in the faith, do not have disputes over differing opinions.

the context is over man made doctrines. Unless you can show where God gives a Law that we are only to eat herbs your argument is baseless.

got to go, may the Lord our God bless us all in all His Way, Christ Jesus

Will this do?

Genesis 1:29
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

You mean the word EAT? You are the one reading what you want into the text...it is clear as day...it is about fasting days and how some are fasting or not fasting...

Jews fasted twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays (Luke 18:12). Gentile converts continued the tradition but observed it on Wednesdays and Fridays. The Didache chapter 8 says “But let not your fasts be with the hypocrites, for they fast on the second and fifth day of the week. Rather, fast on the fourth day (Wednesday) and the Preparation (Friday).” Fasting is not allowed on the Sabbath.
