  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

NASA Confirms Solar Storm Near 2012

"`This week researchers announced that a storm is coming — the most intense solar maximum in fifty years. The prediction comes from a team led by Mausumi Dikpati of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). "The next sunspot cycle will be 30% to 50% stronger than the previous one," she says. If correct, the years ahead could produce a burst of solar activity second only to the historic Solar Max of 1958.` `Dikpati's forecast puts Solar Max at 2012. Hathaway believes it will arrive sooner, in 2010 or 2011.` Anyone familiar with the Mayan Calendar? December 21, 2012 (13.0.0.0.0 in the Mayan Calendar) Coincidence?"

Essentially, if we take a look at some of the really species-changing events in our history, we see 3 really MAJOR developments that changed the entire course of human history. 1) The Agricultural Revolution. 2) The Industrial Revolution. 3) The Information Revolution.
30,000 years ago, we learned how to farm. 350 years ago, we learned how to mass-produce machines. About 50 years ago, we learned how to build computers. As you can see, the _rate_ of change is increasing, as is the ability afforded by the change. With computers, we have the ability to build more efficient things, fly planes and spaceships, educate more people, etc. Each of these enabling technologies will build further development, and at a faster rate. According to the mathematical model, we should see approximately *61* more of these species-changing developments before 12/21/2012! All of the same magnitude as the three noted above!

its all worth considering.

They can't really "confirm" what is, at best, a tenuous prediction, can they?

Big solar storms play hob with RF propagation, so hams like myself don't like 'em much. We like strong sunspot cycles, though, 'cause they make HF signals bounce off the ionosphere in a satisfying manner. Most folks won't know the difference.

`Dikpati's forecast puts Solar Max at 2012.
That didn't really take a rocket scientist to figure out. Sunspot cycles always run about 11 years.

Anyone familiar with the Mayan Calendar?
Oh please. Who gives a flying flip about the Mayan calendar? The Mayans didn't know diddly squat about anything, but we're supposed to attach some spooky significance to the fact that they ran out of room on their calendar rock at some point? Right. Maybe they can tell me how to rig up a new G5RV antenna to prepare for the sunspot max. Maybe I can try for the 5 Zone Worked All Loonies certificate.
