Baptism with water does many things.
It frees us from original sin.
It forgives any actual sin.
It transfers us from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light
It makes us a new creature, a child of God, a member of the Body of Christ.
It gives us sanctifying grace and the grace of justification.

That is why it is so important.
no scripture to back up any of this. first one: show scripture. second: no scripture. third: john 3:21 whoever LIVES by the TRUTH COMES INTO THE LIGHT,.... and 2 cor. 4:6, 1 john 1:7. fourth: 1 cor 12:13 eph 4:22-24 with rom 13:14 with coll 2:11 and rom 8:5-10. fith: rom 5:18-19 1 peter 1:2.. through the sanctifying work of the SPirit.

God gave us his Church to teach and sanctify. It is through the ministration of the Church that he pours out his grace in the sacraments that he gave us. He can, and does act outside of these sacraments, but to reject them is unwise, presumptuous and ungrateful.
wrong and silly. it is SOELLY throught he working of the SPirit in our hearts. PERIOD. you have NOOOO scripture to make this claim.

I would also point out that according to your theory of taking every mention of baptism literally and not metaphorically, we now have three baptisms - with water, with the Holy Spirit, and with blood/suffering/death depending on what you take the above quote to refer to.
you do not conprehend what we are saying. there are different uses of the word NOT acts. there is only ONE baptism logic as you say should tell us it is the SPirit baptism since jesus is the one doing it and 1 cor 12:13 say we are baptized by the one spirit into the one body. there was a water baptism used and still is used BUT it does not do anything in the way of salvation. it is not important in that area.

No, it’s baptism with water that makes us Christians, but baptism in the name of the Trinity, not John’s baptism which was a pre-figuring of Christian Baptism.
no it is having Chris tin us that doe sthis again. MUCH IGNORED rom 8:5-10 we are NOT christians UNTILL we have the SPirit and can not do anything righteous untill wee have the Spriit we can not do the WILL of God untill we have the SPirit. YET you say scripture tells us we can.

On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied (Acts 19:5-6)

Two seperate actions:
1. They were baptized – with water
2. Paul laid hands on them and the Holy Spirit came on them.
you add to what is stated -- the with water is not in scripture- so you can not be for ceretain.

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts

They received the Spirit when they were baptised, not when they believed.[/quote] YET Paul askes them in gal 3:2 if they received the SPirit when they BELIEVE or by observing the Law. and states in verse 14 SO that by faith we might RECEIVE the promise of the SPirit. and in eph 1:13-14 states that we RECIEVE the SPirit when we BELIEVE. and JESUS himnself states in john 4 that we receive the Living water when we DRINK it( do you think this is an anology to water baptism) and john 7:38 speaks of it to. and states when we believe( come to him and drink) we will receive the SPirit. SOOOOO what do you say? is this all analogy to water baptism.
