For Christians - was the Flood global? If not, why do you think that? Due to geology and archaeology? Or do you think the Bible is saying that it would have been local?

Also it said it rained for 40 days and flooded the earth for 150 days which might be unusual for a local flood. Also it says Noah lived to be 950.... but I guess that is a little off topic.

Global flood..... the entire planet.
1- the bible says that it rained for 40 days/nights.
2- it also says that the fountains of the deep were broken up.
This brings to bear---- what on earth are they saying with the fountains of the deep being broken up?
It sounds to me like a cataclysmic event which resulted in the surface of the earth experiencing massive earthquakes and subterranean aquifers being released, and exploding to the surface.
Furthermore, we literally have no idea what the antediluvian topography was like.
Were there high mountain ranges? Or was there a series of low-altitude mountains?
Next, I read some articles a few years ago which stated that the mantle holds "several oceans worth of water" in it.
Is there An Ocean Below Your Feet?
and instead of posting numerous articles, here's the google search results.

several oceans worth of water in mantle - Google Search

It appears from this, and a few other sources, there was a spectacular cataclysm which resulted in earth's crust being broken open, and a change in solar activity, which reduced the amount of heat reaching the surface of the earth, allowing the misted atmosphere to cool, releasing the water held in the atmosphere, and it rained like the dickens for 40 days and nights, as well as all the water stored inside the earth getting released, and flooding the entire earth.

the cooling from the decrease in solar activity, and all the water resulted in an ice age.

Your leaving out the third option, there was no flood.

Pre-Abrahamic accounts should immediately be viewed differently than other accounts. If Moses penned these words then creation to Moses would be 2500 years removed.

Why draw the line a Abraham? Because Abraham has an intimate connection that would be unchallenged with the Hebrews and that information being pasted down would have more care to details with Abrahamic accounts than pre-Abrahamic accounts. With pre-Abrahamic accounts surrounding cultures would have their own versions of these accounts and there would be a lot of competition and influence. (Like the Egyptians for example a major influencer)

These accounts should be look with deeper foreshadowing and prophetic characteristics than literal as the former is more important. Did you know from Ch 6:9 - 9:29 there is a complex chaiastic structure that goes 14 layers deep? You can't fake that stuff and a lot of time was put in penning the accounts in a very specific order which can suggest the details were more fluid and the goals of the account were more important to tell, a very eastern way of approaching information.
