Why pray that our enemies are killed in a bombing?
So that they no longer murder non-combatants in a fashion that is considered grotesquely barbaric by the whole civilized world?? Possibly. Maybe.

Why not instead pray for an end to violence? Do you know that these people are brainwashed, at a very early age?. Why do they need killed? Why pray for that? Wouldnt love ask us to pray for their repentance?

Forgive me if if i'm in the wrong forum with this. If i am please let me know and i'll have staff move it. Thank you.

This thread addresses the morality of war. How can we support war? Shouldn't we be praying instead of bombing people?
We have to fight or wage the righteous war between good and evil, which is the spiritual war going on the spirit realm reflected here on earth, and we are in this war whether we like it or not... However, "how" do we wage this war in a Godly way...?

Most would say "with words" and prayer only, and by love and by conduct and example that reflects love, and no physical fighting... But, there are times when words are "not enough" or fail us, or are ineffective... Words work a lot of the time in a country like America, but sometimes not so much in others... And humans sometimes take much greater notice of actions than words...

Terrorism is evil... ISIS is not committing these attacks cause they want to be heard, but because they want to wipe everyone else not Muslim off the face of the earth, if they had more power or get more power in the future, they would do the same as Hitler or even worse than Hitler...

If that is not evil, I don't know what is... We have to something to put a stop to it/them before that happens, they are forcing us into a corner, we have little choice but to physically fight and subdue them, if it is even possible to subdue them, if it goes to far, "we" may be forced to wipe "them" out, though many of us do not want to, myself included, but they leave us with very few options, they don't want words, they don't want reason, they don't want peace...

Star Trek TNG episode "High Ground"... (see this clip)...

You really should watch the whole thing, it is very relevant to today, right now...

Data says "Would you say that terrorism is acceptable when all options for peaceful settlement have been foreclosed..."

And he is right... Also, "war" is "necessary" when all options for peaceful settlement have been exhausted or foreclosed...

That is where we and most of the world is "at" with ISIS, and while they might say that according to Data, they have a right to fight the way they are fighting, but "we" also have a right, when all options for peaceful settlement have been foreclosed, to do what we "must do" to stop them, which when all options for peaceful settlement have been foreclosed on, involves killing them...

God Bless!

sorry bro, but i must disagree. Paul said our weapons of warfare are not carnal. He clearly says we do not war in the flesh.

Does this mean that we accuse the military of a crime? No, it means that we pray for them, and for our enemies too..

The only other option than killing them is to capture them and imprison them...

I see no other options, they leave us with no other options...

By the end of the Star Trek episode, they had to kill the terrorist leader, and imprison the ones left over that they captured...

God Bless!

I answered this in post #2.

What are you talking about? Considerable care was taken during the airfield attack to avoid killing humans. It was not an attack upon a barracks or city.

I believe we must separate ourselves from the military. The Church has no military, the apostles didn't preach armies and war. Our weapons of warfare are not carnal.

Im not saying that God cant use our military to administer justice, im just saying we (as Christians) have no right to say how God does it. We are instructed to pray in all things.

The mistake is yours brother. Im talking about all war, not just a recent one. What did you say about praying for an end to violence?

I was asking why we trust God with our finances, our health, and our soul, but not our protection too? Shouldn't we be praying instead of bombing our enemies? We pray for everything else and trust God, why not trust him to protect us?

Yes i agree we should be trusting God for our Eternal Protection... But i believe God will protect us to the point that we are of use to his eternal plan. I do not think i can expect Gods protection if i have served my purpose to God on earth.. And anyway why would a true Christian want to live on this corrupt fallen world for one second more then is necessary...

Maybe you should read his post again, im pretty sure he did. It was along post.
I was referring to what Paul said. He was not talking about the government when he was speaking to how the believers should act. For that matter, Paul didn't condemn war anyway.

Yes, that's an excellent example and a good movie... But, all cannot be unarmed medics like him or they would all be slaughtered... Some have to fire at or fight back physically, and have little to no choice in the matter...

If we can trust God with our finances, our health, food and clothing,
"If" separates those who trust and those who don't trust. As God's WORD is sharper than any two-edged sword, separating and exposing the thoughts and the motives of the hearts.
