Not so much one sin, there are lots including blasphemy, unbelief, rejection, ungodliness...

There are rules and laws for everything in life, break one and you are in trouble. It is the same in Christianity. Break God's laws and you are out. This is why OSAS is so tragically wrong.
.

Explain this then,

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Be thankful of God's chastisement.
Hebrews 12:6-8 TLB
(6) For when he punishes you, it proves that he loves you. When he whips you, it proves you are really his child.”
(7) Let God train you, for he is doing what any loving father does for his children. Whoever heard of a son who was never corrected?
(8) If God doesn’t punish you when you need it, as other fathers punish their sons, then it means that you aren’t really God’s son at all—that you don’t really belong in his family.

My point was that this chastisement is God`s response to Christian sinning. You tie it in with the verse that says "Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin." Then you begin to understand how God deals with His children.

The penalties of the Law are for the lost and the hypocrites.

If I was OSAS I would be worried by verse 8

OSAS - the Oasis.

So OSAS is like believing in the scriptures for salvation like it's a legal contract, instead of trusting in Jesus and Him saving us.
Its only Jesus that saves us but if we live as a heretic then we are not a repentant believer. Once saved doesn't say you can continue to live a unrepentant life. If you live a life like that you are not a Jesus follower. You give up all claims as a Jesus follower if you are not a follower. Further if you live a life of sin Its obvious you could care less if you are saved or not. There's nothing to say that you can't forfeit your own salvation by practicing sin. We're talking people that live their lives for Jesus. Not those that do not believe.
We all have a choice and we can choose to give up our rights as a Christian which means we are no longer saved but that is our freewill, We make that choice. In that case they didn't lose it, They made the choice to give it up.

That all depends on what’s meant. I’m all for the P in TULIP. But I’m not always on board with what’s meant by OSAS.
LOL, what exactly does that mean, HA!

Everyone should be concerned about verse 8. Your view that OSAS = wanting to sin isn`t right.

That is not what I think. I get the impression they think they are untouchable.
.

If they are elect they aren`t. Problem is, only God knows who is elect so those who think they control their salvation have a serious problem.

I agree with that to a degree, but just to add, I believe everyone is eventually answerable to God.
(Lights out, goodnight.)

Some folks teach an OSAS view that as long as you said some prayer at one time, and really meant it, even if you spend the rest of your living like the world without a thought of God, you are saved. Scripture doesn’t teach that.

I hadn't ever heard that before. But what does it mean if you take the P out of tulip? lol

I don't know what that has to do with osas? Everyone is still accountable for their sins. Those who practice sin aren't really saved are they? They wouldn't be living a life of sin if they were saved.

I`ve met religeous people with that type of mentality. They were hostile to any discussion of the law or good works. Neither of which should be threatening to a child of God.

The P is for Perseverance of the Saints in the TULIP acronym.

This is getting muddy. Once saved always saved is about your salvation. It doesn't save you from punishment if you sin. Your salvation is for eternity.
I might be muddying the waters.

I like this:
"27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand (John 10:27-29)."

Thank you
"five primary points which represent Calvinism: Total depravity, Unconditional election, Limited atonement, Irresistible grace, and Perseverance of the saints.Hence, they are called the five points of Calvinism."
Have you or they always tied Calvinism in with osas?
You participate here, why do you not on the Calvin thread? If you don't mind my asking. Its all so confusing. This thread is not making it any clearer, lol.
