Its a question I seek an answer to.

Its for my defence when I fellowship with Christians who are demon focused because they have personal experiences with them.

To me it all sounds too much, so I seek clarification and I cant find it in the bible myself.
I don't think the Bible talks all that much about demons.

I might talk about a different subject with these friends or maybe just take a break.

I would wonder why they keep having all these demonic experiences.

I focus on God instead. It is rare I think on the enemy or angels.

The Lord is our Shepherd. I trust Him to protect me from evil. Nothing can happen without Him allowing it and if I stand in His Armour (Ephesians 6:11-20). Having faith in God, knowing the enemy can't seriously harm me, child of the Soverign creator Almighty God. I don't see how evil can do anything worth worrying about. Psalm 91 promises protection.

Jesus said 'Do not worry'.(Matthew 6) Paul said 'Be anxious for nothing but in everything.. prayer and supplication... focus on what is good...' Philippians 4:6-8

I do suspect that my family suffer some kind of oppression on a Sunday morning. I have a headache each week and 2 of my kids act up. The daughter who loves Jesus wholeheartedly isn't much affected. With prayer though from people on here and myself it went fine last week.

I think those who aren't mature like myself should be trusting in the Lord and minimising there thoughts on evil influences or we could end up trying to find ourseleves acting live Adam and Eve trying to shift responsibility for our sin. Even if tempted our sin is our own and we can't be sorry if we minimise it or make excuses.

What we look at tends to become part of what we think. Therefore, to trust in the Lord, obey Him and He will protect us. Romans 8:31-39.

I must also apologise if my answer isn't quite appropriate the the way the thread may have developed. This is a subject I'm not wanting to spend too long reading about for the reasons above.

God bless you and keep you.

I understand and I feel protected because I'm born again.

The disciples were able to identify the demon possessed and cast them out in Jesus name.

How can we identify in this day and age?

Is it clear a crystal?

Because I have no idea.

Should we be walking around and If we are prompted to believe someone is demonized to speak to the demon and command it to come out in Jesus name and Authority?
No we aren't. Not unless strong in Faith. In acts someone said to people who tried casting out a demon 'Jesus I know, Paul I know but who are you' Then the possessed man attacked them.. Leave well alone until you know God deeper and what He says.

Are you perhaps needing to find a new Church or to talk to and interact with different people within this Church?

Brother, what are these spirits?

I'm not immune myself? none of us are if they can oppress if not possess a born again.

It brings me much fear and turmoil.

All this is relatively new to me. I thought/believed demon oppression or possession was rare.

Now it is common as McDonald's.

This is my 12th year Born again and it's all happening this year.
Brother, the demons attack the mind. The human mind is the battleground then they try to take your will and then your emotions (soul). Fear not dear brother for they cannot take your regenerated born again bible believing Spirit filled spirit.
Believe me I spent decades feeling like you do. Paul tells us to " Be transformed by the renewing of your mind".
Sure demons are real. Demonic depression is real, demonic oppression is real but a Christian being possessed is impossible.
Know your stance in Christ, You are seated positionally in Christ in heavenly places, a co heir of Christ, a citizen of heaven. Once you really get this factual truth deep in your spirit your mind will catch up as you will yourself to what Father God says about you in His word your emotions will catch up . Your soul will be refreshed.
We need to see ourselves from heaven's perspective, you are more than a conqueror, an overcomer.
As you strengthen over time you will dare to take all thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ and then spot those lying devils and cast them out!
Fear not brother! Greater He who is in you than he who is in the world.
You sound like a unique kind of character looking for likeminded fellowship.
From what I've seen you've had some great advice in this forum.
Fear not.

Blessings

Odd to say such a thing considering it is quoted in scripture by the brother of Jesus...
Not really. Paul quotes an ancient pagan Greek poet at one point.

Acts 17:28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’

Brother, the demons attack the mind.
Some of them do, but not all.

A "spirit of infirmity" (Luke 13.11) attacks the body, not the mind.

This is another confusing one.

I'm constantly told that a demon is behind my thoughts and actions.

I just cant seem to grasp such a concept.

That I'm a utility for the demonic kingdom.

I'm born again!

If I share something with someone. E.g. Here look at this testimony of a Christian in a similar circumstance to you, I end up reiterate it twice.

Then the other Christian will say that's demons talking through you because I'm trying to control them?

Or,

I get angry and upset, someone will say its demons!

Wait what?
The bottom line is you are a pawn in a game of influence. Galatians 5:17 "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." You don't fall anywhere on that spectrum. You are either going to submit to God or be run into the ground by your own flesh and the spirit of this World.

There is the Holy Ghost who is supposed to be our comforter, teacher, and guide into Holiness. But at the same time you have your own carnal flesh that is not going to heaven or to hell but simply back to the ground from which it came. Flesh wants to take the least path of resistance and have a good time, on top of that there is a spirit of this world, there are demons, and there are other negative people trying to influence you in a negative direction.

Before a football game, some players will listen to loud and fast Rap or Rock N Roll music to get them "hyped up," something in that music causes a reaction inside of those men that makes them more aggressive and potentially more angry and "hyped," is it a demon is it a suggestive spirit, is it our own fleshly reaction - the bottom line is again we are pawns in a game of influence. Go check out the next superhero movie, watch every little boy as he comes out of the theatre. He will be kicking and punching and karate chopping the air - something that he saw in that movie had an influence on his brain. Was it a spirit or demon... you tell me.

Every thought that comes into our brain is an attempt to influence us, and not all of the time, are they trying to influence us to do good. Where do those negative thoughts come from - surely not from God.

Pray..
Go to the Lord Jesus and seek Him.
He is the deliverer.

And I say this as a person who has both experienced dramatic deliverance.
And have..in Jesus name ..seen demons manifest and get cast out.while praying for people.
Also have experienced praying for and seeing people get filled with the Holy ghost and speak in tongues.

Can a born again believer have an evil spirit...? Yes..if they have fallen into sin and are self justifying sin.
Can they get free..yes ..they repent .

But ..this whole present craze with what we call demon hunter type people is not balanced.
We don't look for demons under every rock and bush.

We pray for people for sickness or depression or a thing that is obviously tormenting them..
(the most common torment is guilt of sin people know to be sin..the remedy for that is always repentance.)

We pray
.if a demon manifests we cast it out.
So there is no need to hunt them out under every tree or rock.

In some cases people simply need to realign their thinking. And agree with God.
Its called renewing ones mind.
Not every problem is caused by a demon (but every issue that is bad will have a root cause of sin)
And not every issue is rectified by renewing the mind.

The enemy includes a whole multitude of fallen angels and demons.... Who... What... When... Where... How... Why... I seek these answers to identify "the enemy"

Main prayer Jesus gave us - "Our Father in Heaven" (Matthew 6:9-13) - ends with:

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one."

Jesus told us to regularly pray to God to deliver us from the evil one. That means that evil one is attacking us regularly. That's the answer to your questions "Who", "When", "Where", "What".

It's confirmed by 1 Peter 5:8-9: "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings."

It leaves "How" and "Why".

"Why" is because we are Adam's and Eve's descendants - "And I will put enmity between you (serpent) and the woman, and between your offspring and hers" (Genesis 3:15) - plus, we are still in our mortal sinful bodies, living on perishing Earth (not resurrected yet).

"How" is probably only by oppresion for believers/elect/born-again, since Jesus told us: "I give them (my sheep) eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one." (John 10:28-30)

So, the evil one (and his minions) is doing his part within God's plan, while believers are learning and growing through it, but not in danger to perish.

I would suggest two things to you. First, pray more to God to deliver you from the evil one. Second, command evil one in Jesus name to disappear, vanish, drop into the pit everytime you feel or think he's there (Matthew 10:8).

It seems to me that the first Christians were much more informed regarding what "demons" are. I'm not sure they had more information then we have now, they did have not demon activity then we have now. The Holy Spirit help them with the needs of that time.

Why is it so vague today? As Christians we are not called to be demon hunters but to be Holy people of God.

Book of Enoch makes it plain. The book is full of falsehoods, false teaching is worse then no information at all.

Disembodied spirits of the offspring of the Angels who conspired together on Mt Hermon to procreate with human women. First of all Demons and Angels can not procreate they are Heavenly beings, the Bible makes it clear the in heaven being do not marry and have sex. Second Angels and Demons do not have a gender.

They are fierce and seek to destroy man having no place, judged to wander the earth as evil spirits aka demons. They are spirits and can't hurt us, unless we turn our self over to them. You seem to have an unhealthy fixation on demons that could be very dangerous.

I cant find anything comprehensive like Enoch's explanation in scripture. If you can't find it in scripture then God does not want you to know. Again falsehoods are not information but just lies.

It frustrates me.

We are in ignorance and yet we are to know their ways and fight them.
No we are not to fight them Angels and other heavenly beings do that we are to resist them when they tempt us with sin. You can't fight a spirit. The fact is they are already defeated by Jesus Christ.

The only real place to find out about them is through what's written in the Bible. Sorry, I don't have a list of verses detailing them.

One thing is clear to me though, we are tempted by them. Ok, so how? We've never seen one, at least I haven't. My conclusion is that they speak to us through our thoughts. I believe God communicates through our thoughts too but it is difficult to tell which thought is His at times.

What about possession? I believe I have been possessed before. I was slowly becoming very angry with my mom and sister. One day I completely lost control and said things I can't believe I said.

My sister was screaming at me and ready to punch me. All of a sudden I snapped out of it and realized what I was doing. It was like I was in a dream but had had no control.

I started saying calm down calm down. My sister yelled "i am calm!" but i was saying it to myself.

Now to the outside observer it may not have looked like demonic possession, but i knew inside i had lost control.

I'm not trying to blame it on demons, i released my control when i allowed the anger to over take me. But i do believe that they are real and the Bible clearly says that they are.

There is a certain kind of Christian that will see demons behind every rock. I do believe in demons, but honestly, if hypothetically no demons existed, there would be plenty enough wrong with human nature to make us sinners in need of a Savior.

And anger and upset are just normal emotions. They are not sinful per se. The Bible says, "Be angry and sin not." It is what we DO when we are angry or upset that is sinful or not. Do we call people names? Do we get sarcastic? Do we dredge up old grudges? Do we get physical? Or do we act assertively and maturely?

Some of them do, but not all.

A "spirit of infirmity" (Luke 13.11) attacks the body, not the mind.
Hello,
You are correct, I should have added the deseases that demons attack the body with also, infirmity, palsy, cancer, diabetes. Anorexia nervousa , bulimia, they attack the nervous system also. Spirit of fear attacks certain organs, heart, kidneys, ears etc. etc.

Just simply wanted to steer away from there as I wanted him to focus away from fearing the demons. Fear gets hold of the emotions and the mind opens to thoughts that can be unnearving.

Got told years ago that absolutely every disease had a demon behind it. The Lord healed my arthritis which came upon me suddenly through forgiving someone hat I had bitter unforgiveness toward. He healed me by showing me directly. Was a demon there? Dunno!
All I know is that He healed me as I released that person to Him.

The Lord has given us authority over those demons and every unclean thing.
Just last week I couldn't sleep so cast out apnea, asphyxia, insomnia and have slept like a baby since.

Should have done it years ago but had a door had been left open which related to a certain sin I had to repent of.

Talk about God's perfect timing

God bless

A nurse, who had stopped working because of fibromyalgia, read about doing spiritual warfare without Yahweh's approval beforehand. After she asks for forgiveness, she was healed as had happened with this author.

Not saying that's the only cause of fibromyalgia though - just these two believers' experience.

A lady who blamed her surgeon was healed when she forgave him.

That is very important to know. I grew up understanding the reality of demons; and more importantly, that they are subject to the Name of Jesus.

What about possession?
What about it? In most cases it is an inaccurate translation, since "possession" means ownership. We cannot be owned by a demon. the only case in the bible where the Greek indicates ownership is the girl with the spirit of divination in Acts 16. The rest of the cases (including the "Legion") are more accurately rendered "demonized."
