All day long I hear voices in my head telling me to quit college. I really like college, so I don't want to quit. However, the voices keep saying I will go to hell if I don't quit. Please pray for me, that God will reveal himself to me somehow and help me to figure out what I should do. I pray all the time for God to help me know what to do, but so far he hasn't answered my prayers.

The voices laugh at me and mock me. They say "It's so funny!" They know I'm struggling and they just think it's hilarious.

I've been praying about this for years, and I'm not sure what God wants me to do.

Get to a doctor and get medications to quiet the voices.

I did and am praying for you.

Now, it is time for you to call your parents or other support people in your life. Those voices are not normal and can be controlled with medication. Please contact your doctor first thing in the morning. Do not listen to the voices. I know that is easier said than done, but they are lying to you. You won't go to hell for going to college.

I take 600 mg Clozapine and 4 mg Haloperidol. These are the best medications I've found so far. I've tried lots of them and Clozapine is the only one that makes a difference so far.

Call your prescribing doctor in the morning and let them know the voices are actively interfering in your life. It is time for a med adjustment. If you don't, you risk ending up being admitted into a behavioral health unit.

Unfortunately it does take tinkering with the RX to find the meds and doses that will work for you. You have to work with your doctor to get that adjusted. I see you've been referred to a specialist already. Praying for you.

Yes, I have a very nice psychiatrist. He think that Clozapine is the best fit for me though because he says I have treatment resistant schizophrenia and Clozapine is best for that.

But I think you might be right. Maybe I should try something else out. I am unable to sleep without Clozapine though. Maybe Seroquil will help me to sleep too.

I called my psychiatrist recently and left him a message telling him how I'm feeling. He hasn't gotten back to me though.

Call again and let them know that your voices are saying harmful things and you are requesting help.

Yeah like blackribbon is saying since you are on medication with a firm diagnosis it would be best to let your medical team know you are having breakthrough symptoms and that way they can give you the help you need.

If you have started College and made a financial and time investment in it, then I cannot see how it could be God telling you to quiet. I think it is the other fella. I am not allowed to tell you how to get rid of those voices because spiritual warfare is against the forum rules. But I do suggest that you go and see the pastor of a full-gospel church in your city and see what he or she says. You'd have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I am not suggesting you be disloyal to your own church and pastor, but when I went to my dentist and he identified a problem that needed a specialist, he sent me to one. Your pastor may be a very good man who preaches great teaching, but he may not be a specialist in the type of help you may need. He shouldn't get his nose out of joint about it, because he should know what his own gifting is and what is not. Perhaps he does know how to help you and he may have specialist gifting in the area of getting rid of the voices in your head, and you could go to him and get help. But you know your pastor better than I do, and you would know whether he could do the type of ministry that would set you free from the oppression of those mocking voices that, in my belief, do not come from God.

If the full-gospel pastor is good and has integrity, he will not try and "poach" you out of your church to his. If you detect anything like that, politely excuse yourself and get your butt right out of there as fast as you can, and find another full-gospel pastor who has more integrity.

I trust that this is helpful to you.

Be assured, those are not God's voices (1 John 4). Your medication may have something to do with it as well. Finish college, and get a good job. That's coming from me, a Professor. I'll be praying for you:).

Maybe you need to find a psychotherapist to work with who specializes in schizophrenia. In Finland they are having alot of success in treating schizophrenia with better outcomes using a patient directed approach that involves minimal medication.

About a half year ago I came across Dr. Daniel Fisher, who is a psychiatrist who himself struggled with schizophrenia when he was younger, and he encourages self-advocacy for people with mental illness.

God wants you to seek professional help. We all need to control those voices.

Praying for you Snow, Those voices are nothing but your illness, They have NO power or authority whatsoever, God and His Word are everything.
Tell yourself the truth that "nowhere in God's Word does it say that going to college nor your grade level will send you to hell.
You have good advice above and I agree, seek your Dr.

I don't think the "voice" you are listening to is the Lord's voice. Furthermore, I wouldn't advise anyone to quite college, unless they had a better plan. I quit college and I regret it.

Some may say to go to a doctor, but some have done that and gotten worse, or just been drugged up, not better. However, I pray that if you need any medical help, or alternative health help, that you will get it as led by the Holy Spirit.

To me is sure sounds like demonic attacks such as many have experienced. Are there any occultic things in your home, books, CDs, whatever? Little "cute" statues of Buddha, or other pagan artifacts? Frankly, any porn? Such things are said to open doors to demonic influences.

Here is a way to get help.(It worked great for me when I was under attack, I believe, from some people who were into the "dark side.") In the Bible we see that singing praises can be a form of spiritual warfare. David sang to Saul to give him relief from evil spirits. Paul and Silas were singing praises in prison when they were miraculously freed. Jehoshaphat saw various hostile armies coming against his nation of Israel, far too many to fight against. He sent out priests before them, carrying the Ark, and singing praise songs. The enemies all turned on one another and not one was left alive.

There are many, many Scripture songs on YouTube. Here are some examples that you can sing along with. However, any praise based Christian songs can be greatly helpful.
