EVE: Online. Sandbox game where pretty much anything is possible. I'm involved in diplomacy and intelligence for two coalitions totalling around 40,000 players.

I've wondered about that game for a long time actually lol! I just never got around to checking it out again. Perhaps I just might.

It's not to everyone's taste. It's not really a game where you can 'reach the end' very quickly. It takes a year at the very least to just be able to get in the largest ship in the game. Probably another year to be able to use it effectively. Albeit an extreme example, but yeah, it's a game of patience, that's for sure.

I mostly play it for the meta and not so much the gameplay. The politics of the game is what attracted me. Because it's a sandbox games there's dozens of types of gameplay you can play, but more importantly for me there are a ton of different corporations(guilds) that are part of alliances(which can be part of coalitions) that battle for sovereignty of solar systems.

The game made national news a few times because of the scales of battles. The longest one I was in was 21 hours from start to finish and involved around 10000+ players.

This is a video made by the game's developer about that event;

A little background is that when you conquer a system you basically pay a 'rent' bill to maintain it. Someone forgot to pay the bill and so sovereignty dropped and it was open to be captured by anyone. The system was one of the systems that a major coalition was basing out of, their forward operating base if you will, that they used to launch assaults on enemy systems.

So it was a territory of massive tactical significance.

The video is the beginning of the battle. The red flashes are ships warping in to the system. Mostly all you see here are the capital, supercapital and titan ships. The other ships involved are much, much smaller are not really visible from that distance.

Not been a gamer lately.

I used to play World of Warcraft from Burning Crusade up to Pandaria. Paladin, rogue, and hunter my favorite characters.

I also played Battlefield 2, Microsoft flight simulator, Independence War 2 (space simulator), X-Plane (FAA certified flight simulator), Richard Burns Rally (rally simulator), Reflex XTR an RC helicopter simulator when I used to fly RC helicopters, and Super Mario 3.

On my tablet, I occasionally played Angry Birds if I'm outside and bored.

Long ago a friend introduced me to games like pokemon and fire emblem and golden sun, on gameboys, and I love them. Haven't played in a while, but wouldn't be against picking them up again.
I love the story-based and turn-based games. Was never a huge fan of fast paced action games. Always freaked me out, lol.

None of my friends are into video games and only my cousins (all boys) are heavily into them but my eyes glaze over when I see them. Minecraft is very popular now, but never got into the whole fad. I don't really enjoy the violent ones, I think they are mindless and also the occult ones I would steer clear of.

We still have video games that you operate by coin at takeaways, I remember years ago my uncle had like five of them when he owned one, they came after pinball machines. But I didn't have any money to waste playing those lol.

When I was flatting my flatmates girl had a wii and one of the games was supposed to be cutting up food and being a virtual chef. I just find it hilarious that theres video games of things you can easily do in real life.

Oh man..I think this is my new favorite thread. Video games are one of my passions in life..

I just finished beating Tomb Raider for the PS3 the other day, that was an awesome game. I've also been playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist for the PS3 which is also great. I love playing games like Call Of Duty and GTA V as well. Sports games are awesome as well. I really only play PS3 right now...I might get a PS4 in the near future (possibly Christmas?) but I have no idea right now.

I've had NES, Sega Genesis, Game Gear, PS2, PS3..I remember the first game I ever played was Super Mario Bros for the NES.

There is a meme in the Starcraft community that gamer-girls have APM requirements for the guys they would date, do you confess? ;)

Daha! Nah, no specific APM requirements...but my boyfriend sent me this funny, but more than likely true, pic:

@Squeakers - What games do you play?

Me? I love platformers, puzzle, adventure, RPG, and some FPS games. My favourite series of all are Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros, and Pokemon.

I have a NES, N64, Wii-U, Xbox 360 (currently borrowing from my guy), my laptop, and a 3DS. As you can kinda tell, I'm a Nintendo fan girl. ^_^

I'm currently playing and/or have played recently:
~ Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii-U)
~ Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (Wii-U)
~ Hyrule Warriors (Wii-U)
~ Assassin's Creed Black Flag (Wii-U)
~ Super Mario 3D World (Wii-U)
~ Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360)
~ Diablo 3 (Xbox 360)
~ Pokemon X (3DS)
~ Pokemon Black 2 (3DS)
~ Pokemon Shuffle (mobile app)
~ Elsword (PC, Steam)
~ Adventure Quest Worlds (browser game)

I have a bad habit of starting games and not finishing them before I start another one. I still have a ton of other games I won't mention that I've started to play, but haven't gotten around to finishing. :sorry:

Okay, I guess it's the RTS-girls who find APM hot then. :D

I've never known a couple who play as a serious 2v2 team in an RTS, but there were plenty of married couples playing the same tribe in Travian. It's kinda cute.

Lol! If I had a girlfriend, I'd rather let her play damage-dealers like hunters. I already play a hybrid paladin which is both healer and damage in World of Warcraft Pandaria.

Too bad, I don't play anymore esp mmorpg games. They are my favorite but takes a lot of time. I did used to have a lady partner (damage:rogue) in 2v2 while I did healing + damage in paladin. But we never met in real life.

Have you ever heard a thing about "emulators". They are applications you can download on computers and smartphones which lets you play these classic games on its original program. I used to have an emulator on my old N73 Nokia and lets me play Super Mario 3. Emulators also exist for android/IOS phones. But it's more difficult to play on newer touchscreen phones because you can't feel the "buttons".

I like to play old games on my Linux through wine. The last one I played was called Broken Age, I really enjoyed it, so did the grand kids. I also really like games such as the king, hero, space and police quests series. Sometimes I play games such as Descent 1, 2 or 3 or even more sometimes games like Splintercell.

Generally I spend more time setting up games for the grandkids than play games myself, there are some real good old ones around for free or basically for free, and for someone like me who likes the challenge of getting old window games to run on Linux I'm having a ball of a time doing it.

I don't think I will marry a gamer. Unless he likes scrabble and other word games. I had this workmate who is like a chess champion and trying to get me interested but I'm like no. Not for me.

Other guys I know were into WOW but they got addicted, so I steer clear of them as well.

Card games I can play, but video games I have to pass. I suppose this cuts out most of the people my age and below. It's not because I'm useless and never perfected the art of pushing buttons, but I think my brothers scarred me for life when they kept playing for hours and NEVER let me have a turn. And when I did have a go they'd just mock me. They wanted me to just watch them and cheer their prowess.

I'm like..ok this sucks.
