Wait...AV?!
Like, The "AV" KJV translation that was created under the auspecies of MY ANGLICAN CHURCH?!
So, iannassah, you are trying to convince me, an Anglican, that what my church has done since the 1st century was condemned by the translation of the Bible that under our auspecies was created?
The "AV" translates both latria and doulia as "worship," just as it translated sheol, hades, tartatoo, and gehenna all as "hell" even though they are referred to different places or concepts. Back then English wasn't so concrete; ever even looked at an original 1611? Most people would simply cry out "jibberish!"
Latria is worship given to God only
Doulia is "worship" (better translated as "reverence") can be given to anything else.
I doulia my country. I doulia my parents. I doulia Sts. Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel the Archangels. I hyperdoulia St. Joseph the Betrothed (my Patrong Saint) and St. Mary the Theotokos. However, if I were to latria any of these or others; anything or anyone one except God, I would have instantly excommunicated myself from my church. If I were to receive the Sacraments (with the exceptions of Holy Reconciliation of a Penitent), they would be null and void, and I would have put myself even further into jeopardy.
It is a mortal offense in my church, the Vatican Catholic Church, the Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Churches, the Old Catholic Churches, etc, to practice latria outside to God only. It is, as my Vatican Catholic brothers and sisters would call it, A MORTAL SIN.
So, please, with all due respect, do not argue the AV to an Anglican. It is like telling an Eastern Orthodox how to kiss icons or a Buddhist how to meditate.
