• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Has anybody here tried to use a vaporizer to quit smoking? I have been using one for the last 4 months, and I have not had the urge for a cigarette at all! I was smoking for 18 years before I gave it a try.

It does contain nicotine oil, which I can get in all kinds of flavors, and you can step down the nicotine level all the way to zero.

They are cleaner than cigarettes... no ash, no odor and no nasty smell or chemicals. All it is is water vapor.

So... anyone tried this route? :)

I have tried the electronic cigarettes, which I think are similar. I use them at work (in my office) where smoking is prohibited and while traveling with those offended by smoking, they help me cut down..but not quit. I also use the gum, but this is a substitute, I still smoke at home & in my car, These tools do not stop the desire for a "real" cigarette for me.

I am NOT familiar with a vaporizer, but would definitely be open to trying it, what kind did you get and where?

I got an itaste vv

I got it at a little store here in Albany called I-Vape. We also have another store here called Rock 'N Vape who has their own lab in town, so everything is local... as opposed to being made in China.

This stuff is fairly recent, but I'm sure you can either go online or just check around town.

Hope that helped! :)

I'm a current smoker, and I've tried what you are doing. I highly suggest not doing it though, for good reason:

Read this short article:

Nicotine poisoning - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When you use a vaporizer with nicotine oil, you are getting concentrated nicotine. It is NOT safe, and you CAN poison yourself if you do too much. While tobacco isn't safe by any stretch, including all the nasty chemicals that are usually added to the commercial varieties - at least when it is burnt, much of the nicotine is destroyed.

You'll do what you want, but please consider the above for your own safety.

God bless.
