CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I never claimed that anybody said they were convicted. Sorry if anyone became confused and thought that I was correcting anyone on that point.
The record shows we held 5 people from another country without any ever receiving a trial, conviction or sentence.
They were rightfully released as America is leaving Afghanistan and ending its occupation of a sovereign nation.

They were only released in the sense that they are no longer in Cuba. More accurately, they were transferred.

They were handed over to Qatar, which may or may not (probably the latter) keep them in custody.
They didn't get a trial yet because Obama is dead set on trying them in civilian court (something which many in congress balked at because it was completely insane).
Impeached for what? If you're referring to Iran/Contra, you do realize the President may not have been informed about it so that he would have "plausible deniability."
We know that Obama is the one that would have had to sign off on releasing 5 high ranking terrorist leaders...

It wasn't confusing at all...
There was actually grounds to execute just about every single detainee in Guantameno as soon as we first captured them. Despite what the international community would have liked to claim or balk over that fact, the reality is that we would have been well within our rights to do so, because they could technically have been classified as "spies."
Soldiers that are captured whom are wearing the uniform of their country are considered to be POWs and there are rules pertaining to their treatment under international law.
