Private, for-profit health care systems drive up costs; letting health care related companies and pharmaceutical companies charge whatever they want drives up costs (Abilify is $900 for a month's prescription in the US, and $300 for a month's in Canada, for instance); and of course, government organizations (like a government-run health insurance company, or national health service), as large bodies, can negotiate for prices on things much better than smaller, private companies.Alright, smarty pants. Explain to stupid ole' me why healthcare costs are three times higher in the US compared to the UK.
Everyone being able to have access to the health care they need is just a side benefit. ; )
