When you give someone money and they just sit on that money (minus a fee) until you want it back, that's a loan, isn't it?
No, I think it's more like a savings account.

Where's the difference? Aren't you also loaning the bank your money when you put it into a savings account? Most banks even pay a bit of interest on the money in those accounts.
