How does giving them less money make them more efficient?
Best we can tell, it wouldn't. And we already know that us giving them more money than any other country on Earth contributes doesn't do much to make them efficient either.

So what does Trump want? Simply defunding them isn’t going to fix any problems they have, imagined or otherwise. If anything, it will make those problems worse.
But it’ll be “cheaper”, initially.

We are one of the few countries without socialized medicine. And, wait for it. Our death rate should be 1/3 of the overall death rate, right? Our death rate is less than 1/6 (15%) of the rest of the world. Makes you wonder what we are doing right, and the rest of the world is doing wrong.

If I were American I would wince with embarrassment every time my "President" opened his mouth. But this year his behaviour has moved beyond embarrassing: this seems to border on impeachable dereliction of duty!

Donald Trump hunted for a new scapegoat on Tuesday in an increasingly frantic attempt to shift blame for thousands of American deaths from the coronavirus, accusing the World Health Organization (WHO) of having “called it wrong” and being “China-centric”.

The US president contradicted himself within minutes, first vowing to put “a very powerful hold” on his government’s funding of the WHO, then insisting such a freeze was only under consideration.

Trump’s early inaction has come under renewed scrutiny in the past day after a New York Times report that Peter Navarro, Trump’s trade adviser, warned in a memo in late January that the virus could put millions of Americans at risk and cost trillions of dollars. Susan Rice, a former national security adviser, told the Washington Post that Trump’s missteps “cost tens of thousands of American lives”.

The president has repeatedly denied responsibility and sought to blame China, the Obama administration and the media. On Tuesday, with the US death toll exceeding 12,000, he unleashed a tirade at the WHO, even though it raised the alarm in January, after which he made statements downplaying it and comparing it to the common flu.
Trump threatens to hold WHO funding, then backtracks, amid search for scapegoat | Donald Trump | The Guardian
The WHO is a thoroughly evil organisation and deserves everything Trump said.

Scapegoating is Tump's MO. He has gotten away with it his entire life so why would he take accountability for his lack of action now? And his supporters play right along with it. I fully expect to see a plethora of threads attacking the W.H.O.
Nailed it!

In some senses, transmission has been taken off the streets and pushed back into family units. Now we need to go and look in families to find those people who may be sick and remove them and isolate them in a safe and dignified manner.”

Something about his use of the word “dignified” is chilling, as if there is a proper manner for removing a private citizen from his or her family and home.

He went on to say that “the transition from movement restrictions and shutdowns and stay-at-home orders can only be made if we have in place the means to be able to detect suspect cases, isolate confirmed cases, track contacts and follow up on the contacts’ health at all times and then isolate any of those people who become sick themselves.”

Government officials, health experts and analysts have in recent weeks raised concerns about how the organization has responded to the outbreak.

In Japan, Taro Aso, the deputy prime minister and finance minister, recently noted that some people have started referring to the World Health Organization as the “Chinese Health Organization” because of what he described as its close ties to Beijing. Taiwanese officials say the WHO ignored its early warnings about the virus because China refuses to allow Taiwan, a self-governing island it claims as its territory, to become a member. Trump Slammed the WHO Over Coronavirus. He's Not Alone.

And that says it ALL. The W.H.O. criticized Trump for issuing travel bans so any defence of them is ridiculous and should be filed under G without hesitation.
Do you know why the WHO says we shouldn't ban international travel? Because banning, rather than controlling, international travel means people are going to do it anyway but take it underground where governments can't monitor it. That's why. But if we instead radically slow international travel and put quarantine restrictions on the receiving end for a fortnight, as we have in Australia, then it might not drive it as underground. Admittedly, we have the Pacific Ocean defending us where America has land borders with other nations. It's going to be even LESS effective in America to just 'ban' international travel! (How's that 'wall' going? Anyone got a ladder and some rope?)
So right wing armchair experts like yourself can get all smug and slap the arms of your warrior chairs and look at ONE OUT OF CONTEXT slogan from the WHO and congratulate Trump for a simplistic slogan, but the world out there is a bit more complicated than a simplistic Trumpist slogan.

Taiwan has a special place in this debate given its complex relationship with WHO and it's criticisms of WHO are radically different to Trump's.

Trump's criticisms are not Taiwan's criticisms.

Trump is trying to blame the WHO for the situation in America.

WHO said "...a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020."

So from around early February Trump could have started doing something. Instead he raised his nose at it, and sneered. Why don't you tell us all when Trump stopped telling Americans that it was all OK and would all be over soon?

How does giving them less money make them more efficient?

Exactly! Trump has an infantile need to punish everyone else for when he turns out to be wrong about the world he thought he lived in.

WHO is incompetent during the early stages of the outbreak. Taiwan warned WHO of possible human to human transmission in December 31st but WHO ignored it.
So it would have been far better if there was no WHO and countries just learned about it when their citizens started dropping like flies and then winged it on their own.

Okay, gotcha.

Where on earth do you get these statistics?
Also, American healthcare costs double most other countries and delivers worse results. Sorry but that's not Snowflake opinion, but even such SJW publications as The Economist have documented this. (I'm being tongue-in-cheek about The Economist being SJW.) Americans are held ransom by whatever the doctor or big-pharma wants to charge.

America hasn't even begun to flatten the curve yet, as according to the BBC summary of John Hopkins you're still on the double every 3 days mark. With a 10% to 20% hospitalisation rate, health systems across your country are going to crash and the 2-3% fatality rate will be much, much higher without respirators. Sorry, but these are just the facts, like the inconvenient fact that WHO warned the world on Jan 30 and Trump just sneered.
