[Need answers]

So...this young black college student got recorded telling white people to leave...you know, because they're white.

The video is pretty self explanatory.

I'm curious about the reaction to this because I recall a story about a white teen getting denied entry into Harvard because of jokes he made when younger...

This is an adult student being blatantly racist on campus. Should she be expelled? Should anything punishment be involved? Thoughts?

I saw the video. If a white person said there were too many black folks and asked them to leave they would be labeled a racist. Racism is ok when liberals do it.

While I'm not entirely sold on every argument made in it, the following video from the YouTube channel Counter Arguments provides some very important questions to think about when we see stories like this one come up:

Argument: Because black Americans cannot enact racism via institutions, they cannot be racist as individuals.
Counter-Argument: Institutions and individuals are different contexts in which racism can be discussed; they should not be conflated.

I find it absurd that they Michael Eric Dyson would claim black people cannot enact racism via institution, yet he is a professor at Georgetown University (which is an institution) using his position to influence young minds. If anybody has the power to enact racism via the Georgetown institution, it would be him.

The idea that black people don’t have enough power to be racist is also absurd; some of the most powerful people in the country are black. To claim someone like Oprah Winfrey (voted as one of the most powerful women in the world by Forbes) and Barrack Obama (US presidents are considered the most powerful people in the world because of their position) aren’t powerful enough to be racist, but some powerless white man can is offensive, foolish, and absurd. This is just some craziness cooked up by racist in an effort to let themselves off the hook, while pointing a finger at everyone else.

Yeah.. personally I find it patronizing to black people when others tell them they cannot be racist. Just like when people tell women they cannot be sexist.

Part of being a valued and respected member in society is having your negative actions have weight. Not to treat the negative things they do as if a child does them.

Power doesn't have anything to do with the definition of racism. If a KKK Grand Dragon gets thrown in jail for life....it's not as if he has any "power" yet I doubt anyone in the video would suddenly claim he was no longer racist.

Excellent points. I've seen interviews with some of those people and I noticed they only spew that nonsense when they are in front of a crowd or interviewer where they know they will not be challenged.

They should get their books to at least match from copy to copy first, I mean, any mainly transparent white/tinting medium based colour is different from book to book and some times they look all blotchy on some and smooth on others.

She's specifically making the claim that there are too many white students in a multicultural center. She argues that this was envisioned as a place for students of color, and that having too many white students detracts from its purpose.

I think that's a somewhat valid concern, but that there's a racist element to it in that people who are technically "white" can still be minorities--religious minorities, Eastern Europeans, etc. I also think that trying to expel white people from multicultural settings is counterproductive if your aim is improving race relations rather than introducing a new age of segregation.

I wouldn't punish her for it, though I don't care for the vindictive "conform or be exiled" aspect of progressive culture in general.

Very true! Multicultural relates to culture, not race or skin color. But some people automatically equate race with culture.
