  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Tinnitus is typically caused by exposure to loud noise, leading to hearing damage. It is neurological, as the nerves themselves are damaged or dead. There are drugs available, such as piracetam, that can help, though their use is off label and your doctor may not know about it.

It may not be in the ears. I heard of somebody who had it so bad, they had an eardrum removed but still has tinnitus.

An audiologist (not mine) who has a doctorate degree in audiology research explained tinnitus is similar - but not exactly the same - to phantom pain in amputees. It happens in the brain, not the ear.

I don't know why, but tinnitus rarely occurs in my right ear and never in both ears at the same time.

I do - both ears all the time.

What is REALLY annoying is when the 2 are out of phase with each other.

I used to have it mainly in the right ear, but sometimes in both. I don't have it at all now but until I first saw this thread, I hadn't noticed when it stopped, I don't kmow why.
