What do you think my taxes are for?

Okay with you if I use my net income for some creature comforts?

I honestly expected some comeback about percentage of income that goes towards the NHS, some curiosity.

For the record, we (wife & I) tithe gross, not net.

I pay taxes to the Government and local councils and pay National Insurance every month. I don't belong to any church so don't tithe. Well done to you and your wife - but what does your church do with the tithes it receives (honest question - I've often wondered this).

Well thanks for being honest. I find this is the single most distasteful thing about American values and attitudes.

Tell me, tyke:

1. What is the wait time for your ingrown toenails and triple-organ transplants?
2. How do some of your hospitals fuel their heat in the winter?

And since you guys aren't nearly as money-hungry as we are, what happened here?

Dunno to both 1 and 2. I suppose you'll have to wait longer for ingrowing toe nails than transplants though. Why is it important how hospitals are heated. I feel like I'm walking into this one!!

Looking after the poor is a complicated issue. However no poor people have starved to death and very few have died of exposure for lack of shelter here (many head for warm climes in the winter, California in particular).

Also, you make me laugh with the idea that the poor people can afford to move across country. Is that why there are no poor people in New York during winter? Or is new York one of those "warmer climes" you speak of?

My point is that homeless deaths are not caused by a lack of care by the community but are the result of unfortunate actions and decisions by the victims themselves. Overdosing on heroin is not the fault of the Salvation Army.

Thanks for the reply AV. I've found BIMI and the 10/40 Window Project but the only thing about BIO that comes up on Google is the Biotechnology company based in Belgium. Is this it? BIMI and 10/40 are obviously missionary projects so I find the BIO thing a bit strange.
