Why do teachers complain about non-responsive parents but act so resistant towards an INVOLVED parent whose kid has issues? :sigh:

Tell me about it! This was the main reason I started home schooling my two.

What I would give to be able to home school. :sigh:

I have an appt with son's doc in a few weeks and I've got a list of things to talk to him about. I don't care what some teacher thinks - a pill isn't going to solve all of my son's issues.

I want to talk to him about addressing my son's sensory issues. They've always flown under the radar, secondary to his other stuff that is more prevalent. But, it is affecting him and needs to be dealt with, rather than ignored.

My daughter just posted on FB that she's dancing around the house singing "I'm going to New York tomorrow, I'm going to New York"! It made me think back to when she was a baby and we used to dance and sing on Friday's "Daddy's coming home today, daddy's coming home!" It's funny how she's carried that over to her adult life and doesn't even realize it. I'd tell her, but it might make her sad and I don't want to make her sad.
They really do grow up fast, don't they?
Tell her when she's older and she'll actually appreciate it I think.

My husband is off this week. I told my job so they are taking advantage of the fact that I have open hours. Most weeks I'm off by 3pm so that I can get our son off the school bus. Actually most days I'm off by 2. I love working the 8am to 2pm shift. I get the breakfast and lunch rush. But today I'm working 10:45 to 4pm. Yuck. I hate that shift. I'll get the lunch rush, 11am to 1pm, but then it will be dead and I wont make any tips. By 2:30 today I will be bored senseless. I have several 10am to 4pm shifts this week.

I need more boxes!

Mike says since we're only moving a mile away, we don't need boxes, we can just throw stuff in the car and start hauling it over. Well, I don't care if we're moving next door, I think it's still necessary to pack. :) At least some things, the smaller items. Bigger stuff can be "thrown in the car."

My parents had friends they helped move years ago. They moved right down the street, so the wife "packed" in paper grocery bags. It made my mom bonkers b/c she is a box packer like me...and you. :)

My poor daughter is freaking out. She and her husband flew into Buffalo last Friday. They were to visist with her hubbies brother for a couple days and catch a train into the Catskill Mountains. But the trains have been cancelled due to the fact that they are still under water in a lot of places. On top of that, my in-laws power must have lost power because we can't get ahold of them. Oi Va! Hopefully they won't try to make it down the mountain today without trying to find a phone and calling first.

Especially for Jane:

The American equivalent during WWII. I guess "journey" was too complicated? :D

Is%2Byour%2Btrip%2Bnecessary.jpg

The slogan "Is this trip necessary?" was revived in the 1970's during a fuel crisis. I tried to find a poster I saw once showing a dog asking "Is this trip necessary?" on his way to the vet's, but I couldn't find it.
