  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This maybe disprove god but what do you think of it?

no ,it’s simply a hypothesis but there is evidence for dark energy. Dark matter affects ordinary matter in such a way that we know it’s there but we can’t detect it the way we can with ordinary matter. There are no dogmas in science, everything we know can be changed by the addition of new data

Hmmmmm...this sounds familiar...

We know that dark energy is out there do we?

Scientists have been searching for "dark matter" – an unknown and invisible substance thought to make up the vast majority of matter in the universe – for nearly a century. The reason for this persistence is that dark matter is needed to account for the fact that galaxies don't seem to obey the fundamental laws of physics. However, dark matter searches have remained unsuccessful. But there are other approaches to make sense of why galaxies behave so strangely. Our new study, published in the Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, shows that, by tweaking the laws of gravity on the enormous scales of galaxies, we may not actually need dark matter after all. The real dogma is that you can understand the universe by observing the universe. That is the persistent dogma which generates the paradox.

Through centuries of observing the universe we end up discovering, that the universe cannot be observed after all.

Not dogma, but questions to be answered. What you call invisible is in fact undetectable by today’s technology, just as microbes once were. But we don’t know what knowledge tomorrow might bring.

There is no dogma in science, only a search for more knowledge. Science is built on skepticism. As Isaac Asimov said, “The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!' but 'That's funny...'”.

Ha ha...scientists have been searching for faith for nearly a century...

Again...why so dogmatic about non-dogma?

Is that ^ dogma?

*Or is the only dogma..."no dogma"?

It's like saying 'We are all fallible, therefore we may be wrong in thinking that we are fallible, therefore we may be infallible.'

God frequently works through people.

What does dark matter require that you need God to help you understand it?

I didn't know that dark energy was part of physics, but I'm not a physicist.

I don`t believe in dark energy and matter, but if it really did exist I could perhaps ask god about it, I don`t know, yes I know he does

You're not expected to believe in dark energy or dark matter. The fact is that there are a number of cosmological observations that are currently unexplained, and the best hypotheses to account for those observations at present are a repulsive energy built into the fabric of spacetime (dark energy), and unknown particles that have a gravitational effect but don't interact significantly with light or other particles (dark matter).

Some confusion has been caused because the terms 'dark energy' and 'dark matter' are often used for the unexplained phenomena themselves, although they just represent the most likely explanations for the phenomena.

I don`t like science so much anymore, they seem to just want to know everything in attempt to exploit
Science is the discovery part. The exploitation of science is done by politicians, industrialists, and technologists.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're getting at. Can you clarify?

They make fake claims about our climate going bad because of polution and so forth, it makes me sad sort of, especially when it`s not true, don`t you agree?
