We were suppose to receive snow last night, but it seems to have gone right on by us, stayed way up north.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

70's yesterday and 40's today. Frezzing for the next three nights. Hope it doesn't freeze the grapes or the wine will be nonexistent this year..

Rev, the overnight/weekend thing sounds so fun!
It's under 40 here right now. Had to run the garbage out to the curb and about froze! *sigh* Yesterday was so pretty...almost 90...big fluffy clouds...Ah well, welcome to Cincinnati.
This is exactly why I love teaching this age group. Especially the boys 'cause they're so funny.

our church does 2 youth retreats a year with the other WELS/ELS churches in the state/area -- one for 6-9th graders and one for 9-12th graders, the 9th graders are lucky & can do both!!
our Pastor also takes the group of confirmation kids every other year (i think) to wisconsin -- they go to the prep school, synod offices, colleges & the seminary -- the best part of sem is seeing our pastor's picture from his graduation year! lol

health has to do with your # of posts in relation to how long you have been a member -- 100% health is an average of 3 posts per day -- i took a huge break from here for awhile, so my health is lower -- it is hard to make up like 2+ years worth of 3 posts a day!

I like to think that those of us who are not as healthy have lives away from the site. We like it here but we also have our families, jobs, and many other activities.

Some of us are online all day for work anyway so it's easy to pop in and see what's going on. Of course, in my case, it might have a wee bit to do with some ordained guy with dimples who frequents this spot as well.

Hi all!
I went down to Redding yesterday and it was in the upper nineties and muggy. We've had no rain for almost two weeks and that's bad. It means very little water down river and my well doesn't get recharged. Normally, it's raining a lot this time of year. That worries me as my well was completely dry for most of August and September last year. I'm tempted to cut down all the trees within fifty feet of it. That usually does the trick, so I'm told. Hopefully I won't be here to worry about it.
Welcome aboard, Hummie. I like your name. My favourite bird is Humming Birds. Right now, they're mobbing the feeder on my porch. I get between ten and twenty at a time for a four station feeder. They like my cooking! I hope you've got a skin like a rinocerous, because we get a bit toasty here from time to time. This thread is usually quite tame. Watch out in the common room though. It can get painfully sharp in there.
