If we were to work at anything, what would we work at? How would it be done, etc?
Right. How are such things measured?
Could I have done more? (sure) Did I do enough? (who knows?)

Why do you say that the parable of the wheat and tares is about the Jews?
The Jews were supposed to be God's people, but mixed in with them were unbelievers, pharasees....o Jerusalem...how I longed to gather you under my wings and you would not...etc.

Do you not know that the remnant were saved while the others perished in the war?
Exactly as the parable said.

Now we have a similar situation with the church. Will it end the same way? It certainly will.

Yes, but why would you use that to bludgeon @zoidar concerning his essay?

When you click on the link "essay", it takes you to

"I have always been a spiritual person. At the age of 20 I started seeking through eastern teachings, such as Buddhism and New age. 10 years down this road I was struck with mental illness: Depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and psychosis. Somewhere in all this I found Jesus, or maybe it was Jesus who found me? In July of 2010, I was born again, and started to live for Christ."

it is only when one looks around, they will see another link!

see Galatians 1:-6-9
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
But what OTHER gospel is he referring to?
I had to read to the end of chapter two into the beginning of chapter three to find it.

Galatians 2:19-3:6
“For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh? 4 Have you experienced so much in vain—if it really was in vain? 5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard? 6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Could I have done more? (sure) Did I do enough? (who knows?)
You know if you are following Christ or just pretending. Yeah, you can and probably will do more, but don't deceive yourself and live as the world with no regard for God and think a confession once is sufficient.

Works are not measured in feeding the hungry and hours spent in study. How do you live your life. Who is your master?

Anything other than what Paul declared was his gospel that saved.

1 Corinthians 15:1-2
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved,

1 Corinthians 15:3-8
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

Then Paul spends the rest of the chapter on the heart of the gospel which is the bodily Resurrection of Jesus.

There is The Truth in The Word and every Christian must be taught directly by Christ. When that happens, they will all know The Lord Jesus The Christ. Salvation is a great gift. Thank God The Father for His Grace.
Taught by Christ through the Scriptures by His Spirit dwelling is us as believers.

who did he speak with on the road to Damascus?
Who do people usually talk to on that road? Who do people normally speak to who convinces them that they should turn from their evil ways. Who normally blinds people to convert them? The answer is the same.

You're speaking of the metaphorical road to Damascus. I'm referring to the literal event that the metaphor is based off. The voice from heaven identify himself to Paul as Jesus so Paul did meet Jesus on a physical road while going to a physical Damascus.

Paul also possibly referenced himself when talking about a man he knows that was taken to the third heaven (2 Cor 12:2) and he was left unsure if this event was physical or a vision.

He also got information directly from Christ and starts instructions saying things like "for I received from the Lord that which I pass unto you..." (1Cor 11:23) or directly referencing Christ's commands "...I give this command (not I, but the Lord)" (1Cor 7:10) and also outright saying where he gets his revelation "I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ." (Gal 1:12).

There is no difference since God is Spirit.
But I am referring to the literal event
and how the Spirit of Christ literally
converts people, all day, every day,
all throughout history. What we know
is exactly how conversions happen.
There is no mystery.

When you say the Spirit of Christ, are we talking an overtaking of our bodies in a kind of posession or are we talking the effect of the word convicting us of sin and leading us to "men and brethren, what shall we do?"

Romans 10 says it takes a preacher (anyone who tells others of the gospel) for people to hear and believe.

Are you guys going to start in on calvinism? That always gets exciting.

Go YE therefore...and preach. Seems the work of evangelism is left to us.

There is One God
There is One Lord
There is One Faith
There is One Baptism
There is One Jesus
There is only One way to God
There is One Savior

And there is One Gospel

Galatians 1:6

How do you know you have the right One ?

hope this helps !!!
The Gospel;

“ 1 Corinthians 15:1. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;2. By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.3. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;4. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

notice that there is no water baptism, circumcision, Mosaic law or ordinances, or Sabbath keeping or the Lords supper added to this gospel.

Paul considered everything as lost for the sake of the Gospel.

Philippians 3:3-11
we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— 4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence.

If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless.

7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

Absolutely we are living walking testimonies of the power of the gospel that has transformed us from the kingdom of darkness into His Glorious Light.

1 Peter 2:4-10
As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”

7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,

“The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”

8 and,

“A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.”

They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

All of the letters were written to baby/newborn churches/believers and not to grownups with the complete New Testament and should be treated as baby food.

I understand, preachers don't like that idea.
