So, I will take that as a "Yes"... that you cannot come up with anything that proves the earth to be a globe..

  • Change in stars with latitude
  • Objects being hidden by the curve of the earth
  • Measured distances (and aircraft flight times) between cities
  • Need I go on?

1. Gravity is the "force" that attracts a body to the center of the earth, or ANY other physical body having mass.
2. This means that anything with mass has a gravitational force.
3. Gravity pulls falling objects to the ground.
4. It applies to objects of all sizes, stating that the more mass an object had, the more it attracted other objects.

As a result of gravity working this way, the gravitational force at the earth's surface on an object of mass m is:

F = 6.67408×10^-11 M m / r^2 = 9.8 m

where M is the mass of the earth, and r its radius.

Force = mass times acceleration, so:

F = m a = 9.8 m

Therefore a = 9.8. That is, ignoring air resistance, all falling objects close to the earth's surface accelerate at 9.8 metres per second per second, no matter how heavy they are.

Well, according to cosmological physics, it's "measuring the rate of things falling towards the ground". Did I get it right?

I think you've got force, acceleration, and speed confused. They are three different things.

How would the sun rise from below and set below the horizon on a flat earth ?

On the most common "flat earth" model, the sun never even gets close to the horizon.

But we can see it rise and set.

Fail for the flat earth.

See, that's just it. These comments and questions show that, not that the FE is correct or real...but that you don't understand how it works.

I have looked into the concepts of the FE and how they are saying it works, in many regards.

No offence to you, but, it just shows your ignorance on the subject.

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, in both models.

People ask me why I don't oppose comments made about the FE... all the while, I state that I am a FE'er.

If someone states something about the FE that I don't see as a possibility or that is not a point that stands in support of the FE.. I will say so.

For the most part, comments on the evidence for FE are well thought out... FE'ers are pounded from all sides for their view... so, they generally don't state things that are easily refuted or have no support or observability.

On the other hand, a statement such as the one here..are not a "Fail" for the FE... they are just a beaming spotlight on the poster and their ignorance on the FE concepts.

Just because you shout "Fail", does not mean it is true.

If you want to really seriously debate a subject... it's best to seriously investigate it first.

I know, it's a catch 22. Many people who totally despise the FE... study it to find holes in it to prove it wrong... which is the way it should be done... only to end up strong supporters of the FE.

Density. It's been around since the beginning. Ping Pong balls float, rocks don't.

Density is the measure of mass packed into a object's volume. Density is not a force ... it is a measure ... like a cup (of flour).

Objects of great density can float ... if there is little or no gravity acting upon them (for example ... the astronauts in the International Space Station).

Very little floats out of a thirty story window. Not even ping-pong balls.

Gravity (in terms of it's effect) is really not that hard to understand. I would imagine that you would already concede that objects of mass hold together ... to a greater of lesser extent.

That because the building blocks of matter ... molecules, atoms, protons, electrons, etc. ... have varying degrees of attraction to each other. Sometimes the attraction is strong (like in concrete) ... and sometimes the attraction is weak (like in dust).

Gravity is just one of these attractive forces we observe ... every bit as mysterious as magnetic attraction. You can't see it, but you can observe its effects.

There is a scripture which says that the power of Christ ... "holds all things together". This is a principle upon which God has established His creation ... "holding together". Gravity is just one of the God established forces ... which acts to "hold together" His creation.

Hebrews 1

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.

17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

All these are explained by the FE model.

Again, do some research. Attend a conference. Meet these people. They are not crack pot basement dwelling pot smoking 40 year olds that live in their parents house and wear tinfoil hats to support Mel Gibson.

These are very intelligent, logical thinking people that will have answers for all your questions. They will not ridicule you and, everyone of them will say "don't believe it because I say it... go check it for yourself"

From what I have experienced, they are a breath of fresh air compared to globe tards who ridicule, slander, hit you with ad hominem insults, have not researched anything and will tell you that they are right because we have a globe on the teachers desk in Junior Kindergarten. Adding that you are dumb because we have known the earth is round for all time.

Sheesh....... it's embarrassing.

I have been looking into it ... for the last year or so.

All Flat Earth models posit that the sun and the moon travel a circular path ... around the surface of the flat earth. As Radagast has said, the sun and moon never even approach the horizon of any flat earth models.

Flat earthers may try to explain that sunrises and sunsets work through the principle of perspective ... where things seem to shrink and vanish ... the further you get away from them.

However, the sun doesn't shrink as it approaches sunset. And perspective doesn't explain how the sun dips below the horizon when it sets.

In my opinion, on a Fe, there is no need for this mysterious force or "tractor beam" type phenomenon that pulls us to the center of the earth or holds us in the suns orbit.

On the FE, it is simple. Down is down. A heavy dense object will push lighter less dense objects out of their way as they fall down. There is not need for a magical force. The sun and moon are in the firmament and put there by God. The FE model has answers and their explanation has no issues with what we observe. They don't have the problems of why all the oceans are not gathered at the equator or why the atmosphere doesn't float off into the void of space..

Unlike the globe model that "Requires" this mysterious invisible force to hold us down and the celestial bodies in there place...

The globe model needed something to explain how it defies logic. How the oceans stay on the spinning ball... so... out came the chalk boards and after many squiggles and odd symbols and parentheses... voila an answer that explains it...... even though Neil the Grass Tyson even says that they don't know how it works.

Go to a high school gym.. turn off all the lights. Point a flashlight at the floor from one foot high.. Note the area of the floor that is illuminated... If you do this at the foul line at one end of the court...could an ant on the foul line at the other end see the light?

Of course not. It is perspective and vanishing points.

Also, there are videos out there that show the sun shrinks as it moves away. It is still a large object and even though it's not millions of miles away... it is still quite a distance... The result is that it does seem to shrink, in the video but will not shrink to the extent that will convince you.

All these are explained by the FE model.

None of these ... are explained by the flat earth model ... mainly because there is no working ... flat earth model.

There are debates on flat earth held regularly on the Youtube Nonsequitor channel ... where it becomes clearly evident (and even acknowledged) that there is no working flat earth model. Flat earth proponents debate in these forums just to get soundly trounced.

And ... there are no good and reasonable answers to the questions Radagast asked ... proposed by flat-earthers.

Yes ... there are select videos out there (which appear to show what you claim), ... yet defy our common experience of sunrises and sunsets, ... leading one to conclude that there may be some chicanery involved in what is presented.

Actually, ... it is gravity ... that explains DOWN.

And there are plenty of mysteries (like gravity) ... in God's creation.

For example, ... the force of electro-magnetism. Do you deny that force, as well ???

Well, you can give an "explanation," but any moderately bright six-year-old would realise that the "explanation" was nonsense.

But I notice that you haven't even attempted to give an "explanation."

LOL,... because "moderately bright" in your "normal reality" means that by six years of age a child had been globe indoctrinated and bullied enough to know not to question irrational assumptions the flock acceptd as "sense".

Have to admire your reservation and kind choice of words here.
No need to modify that attitude in this forum.

Nothing selective about what you notice, I'm sure.

Electro magnetism is used every day... I even use it myself. The force of magnetic flux is even used to stick stuff to your fridge.

However, gravity is still unexplained and they don't know how it works. It is not necessary on a FE model. It is only necessary if the earth is a ball and you have to explain why some people are upside down and how the water stays on the ball.

On the FE there is only UP and Down.. these to not change as you walk from North to south. This is why you need gravity to be a magnetic like force that grabs us and holds us to the ground.

However, you have your mind made up. I'm not here to convince anyone. I just point out things that people present as if it is solid fact of the globe.. or just that it is undeniable when this is not the case if they would just open their mind and lose their cognitive dissonance.

Obviously, you are ignorant of those individuals that hold this view... From what I have read here, from yourself and others who are my chronic critics and ridiculers... you would lose in a debate with any of these people and they wouldn't even get into the intricate topics and observations.

I really think that you are Naive to the knowledge and observations that this group have and present.

It's a theory, like evolution. Not a law like biogenesis.

Gravity is electromagnetic in nature, which is why (until academia understands this) there is no grand unification.

Some of us know this, and can prove it with physics and mathematics.
