Done, in a PM. Not posted here because it's really a pretty hateful message. (A shame, because a lot of Spurgeon's writing is quite good. I guess we all have our blind spots.)

Oh my...I can't decide if this is totally funny or something I should be yelling TMI TMI to you about seebs!!  ;)

Thanks for the link, seebs. Quite lovely, all of that sewage about "popery" and "black doings of Rome" and "priestcraft" and "priests, like owls, hate daylight". If I hadn't known beforehand, I'd almost swear it had been written by Lorraine Boettner himself.

I'll be sure to reserve any books I acquire that have been authored by Mssr. Spurgeon for fireplace fodder. :(

I dunno; he has a lot of true beliefs, too. You just need to have the bogon filter up. I run into this a lot; many people have weird or delusional or just plain false beliefs about one or two issues, but are fine on everything else.

Still... that was an *AMAZING* piece of writing. I found myself giggling at it, because there comes a point where it's either laugh or cry, and my preference is "laugh".

Yeah, it was amazing, all right. Rather like a member of the Ku Klux Klan going on about blacks, or a Nazi about Jews.

I didn't laugh or cry. My reaction was to grimace while I repeated a few words I learned in a barracks many years ago.

So did Hitler. He revitalized the German economy, put people back to work, gave them pride in their country, and made them one of the most powerful nations on the face of the earth, with an empire running from the Caucasus to the Atlantic and Norway to Libya.

Oh, there was that other stuff he did too...but look at the good stuff he did! ;)

With all due respect... Spurgeon was not genocidal. There is very little comparison between Spurgeon and Hitler.

OK fellas....let's move this conversation outside to another thread. This is the "cooler" where things are supposed to be cold.

This is the place we cool our jets rather than keeping the engine running.

Thanks!
