Article XXI: Of the Worship of the Saints.

1] Of the Worship of Saints they teach that the memory of saints may be set before us, that we may follow their faith and good works, according to our calling, as the Emperor may follow the example of David in making war to drive away the Turk from his country. 2] For both are kings. But the Scripture teaches not the invocation of saints or to ask help of saints, since it sets before us the one Christ as the Mediator, Propitiation, High Priest, and Intercessor. 3] He is to be prayed to, and has promised that He will hear our prayer; and this worship He approves above all, to wit, that in all afflictions He be called upon, 1 John 2:1: 4] If any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, etc.

5] This is about the Sum of our Doctrine, in which, as can be seen, there is nothing that varies from the Scriptures, or from the Church Catholic, or from the Church of Rome as known from its writers. This being the case, they judge harshly who insist that our teachers be regarded as heretics. 6] There is, however, disagreement on certain abuses, which have crept into the Church without rightful authority. And even in these, if there were some difference, there should be proper lenity on the part of bishops to bear with us by reason of the Confession which we have now reviewed; because even the Canons are not so severe as to demand the same rites everywhere, neither, at any time, have the rites of all churches been the same; 7] although, among us, in large part, the ancient rites are diligently observed. 8] For it is a false and malicious charge that all the ceremonies, all the things instituted of old, are abolished in our churches. 9] But it has been a common complaint that some abuses were connected with the ordinary rites. These, inasmuch as they could not be approved with a good conscience, have been to some extent corrected.

ARTICLES IN WHICH ARE REVIEWED THE ABUSES WHICH HAVE BEEN CORRECTED.

10] Inasmuch, then, as our churches dissent in no article of the faith from the Church Catholic, but only omit some abuses which are new, and which have been erroneously accepted by the corruption of the times, contrary to the intent of the Canons, we pray that Your Imperial Majesty would graciously hear both what has been changed, and what were the reasons why the people were not compelled to observe those abuses against their conscience. 11] Nor should Your Imperial Majesty believe those who, in order to excite the hatred of men against our part, disseminate strange slanders among the people. 12] Having thus excited the minds of good men, they have first given occasion to this controversy, and now endeavor, by the same arts, to increase the discord. 13] For Your Imperial Majesty will undoubtedly find that the form of doctrine and of ceremonies with us is not so intolerable as these ungodly and malicious men represent. 14] Besides, the truth cannot be gathered from common rumors or the revilings of enemies. 15] But it can readily be judged that nothing would serve better to maintain the dignity of ceremonies, and to nourish reverence and pious devotion among the people than if the ceremonies were observed rightly in the churches.

Athelstan,

These are the facts within my own relationship with Jesus Christ our Saviour/God/The Holy Spirit and The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God...my own relationship...not speaking on behalf of my fellow Catholic brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Jesus Christ our Saviour 'manifests' Himself everywhere - in Heaven, the Universe and on Earth. Jesus/God/The Holy Spirit "Manifests" Himself in His Holy Tabernacles, His Blessed Sacrament, in His Church and appearing to His religious - His 'Saints' and to others of His Holy Choice in His Holy Will. Jesus speaks to hearts in His Holy Will and has done throughout the ages.

People of whom 'trust' in Jesus Christ our Saviour and trust in The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God "know in their hearts of hearts" that Jesus and The Blessed Virgin Mary have in fact appeared to hundreds of His religious - priests/sisters/nuns/Catholic Children and others during most centuries - including Saint Sister Faustina on many many occasions during the 1930s with 600 pages of diairies written by Saint Faustina whilst Saint Faustina liaised with Her Spiritual Director (Priest) and Her Mother Superior.

What? A coincidence that hundreds/thousands of people have experienced Jesus AND The Blessed Virgin Mary appearing to them on countless occasions over the centuries.

Bear in mind that in the old days few Catholics and people would have disclosed these Holy occurrences and in particular "men" however most fortunately hundreds have documented Jesus and The Blessed Virgin's Holy appearances, Holy Prayers, Chaplets and Novenas (9 Day Novenas) of which Jesus has requested mankind to pray - most including The Our Father and The Hail Mary (to His Heavenly Mother - Mother of God).

How wonderfully honest and brave were Simon Stock, Blessed Alan De La Roche, Saint Dominic and the hundreds of other Saints whom enjoyed Jesus Christ our Saviour Himself appear to them and The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God appear to them.

Why do you people (non believers in Jesus and/or The Blessed Virgin Mary appearing here on earth at times) doubt these facts, when God The Most High appeared to Moses and indeed spoke to the hearts of many of His priests BC including Esdra/Ezra and so many of His priests and prophets - including God The Most High sending The Holy Spirit and His Archangels to Jesus Christ our Saviour in the Loving Holy form of His Dove, when The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus at the river Jordan, when Archangel Gabriel appeared to The Blessed Virgin Mary within God's Prophesied "Annunciation", and on all other occasions that God The Most High sent His Holy Spirit to speak with Jesus' Disciples and The Blessed Virgin Mary of Whom was present with the Disciples to receive The Holy Spirit and His Gifts speaking in tongues.

That is precisely "how" God The Most High taught His Old Testament - by appearing and speaking to the hearts of His priests/prophets/elders.

In view of these facts, why then do you find it difficult to believe that Jesus Christ our Saviour has appeared here on earth many times, commencing with His Disciples and Mary Magdalene, to Saints, of whom were priests, to Children, to others? If you are doubting that Jesus Christ our Saviour has appeared to His religious here on earth throughout the ages, then you will be obviously doubting that The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God has been appearing to priests/nuns/children and Adults throughout the ages.

Within these threads, I have noticed that people have avoided the "fact" that Jesus Christ our Saviour Himself has appeared to many of His religious - Catholic religious - priests/nuns/sisters right through until the 1930s while delivering His/Jesus' Divine Mercy Chaplet of which Jesus has stated:

"No man will have peace until he turns to My Mercy" - My Divine Mercy.

"Dis-trust tears at My Heart".

In relation to the term "manifest" and "Manifested" Athelstan, here are just a few Holy passages for enlightenment of God's Holy Word:

Jesus and His Disciples have used the term 'manifested' in many places in different contexts within His New Testament. God The Most High has used His term 'manifest' in different places within His Old Testament.

Romans 1:19
"Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them".

"everything is possible by Jesus/God The Most High" and "nothing is impossible for Jesus/God/The Holy Spirit" therefore do not be surprised when Jesus appears here on Earth soon Athelstan.

The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God - Queen of Heaven, Queen of the Universe, Queen of Earth, Queen of Hearts and Queen of Mercy - and our Heavenly Mother - 'manifests' Her Holiness 'everywhere' in Gods Holy Will.

Do not be surprised when The Blessed Virgin Mary appears during the last days that are forthcoming Athelstan.

Our Lord Jesus Christ always requested of mankind to trust in Him, His Teachings, His New Covenant and Teachings, Jesus' New Testament of which Jesus stated:

Colossians 1:26
"Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints":

John 17:6

"I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word."

John 9:3

"Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him".

John 14:21

He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."

trust in our Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour/God The Most High and The Holy Spirit

1 Timothy 3:16
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory".

2 Corinthians 2:14
"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place".

1 Corinthians 3:13
"Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is"

1 Corinthians 4:5
"Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God".

Romans 3:21
"But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets"

Love and kindest wishes your Sister in Jesus Christ our Saviour

That doesn't seem like a very good Heavenly existence, spending all of your time being a robot and a slave to the intercession of humans on earth. I've also got to wonder what happens to all of those prayers to Mary when she is apparently appearing on earth in "miracles." Are they unanswered, or is she again God-like in her ability to be appearing to people on earth, speaking to them about the plans of God to work through her, but at the same time hearing everyone's prayers (again, on earth, in real time) and sending them up to God. Boy, what a talent; almost Godly!

Wow. The "you people" put down...and treating "non-believers in Jesus" as identical to doubters of claimed apparitions!! We got both barrels, didn't we?

Well, the answer is simple and solid. Because God did something once does not mean that every claim of something somewhat similar to it is legitimate.

If that were to be taken seriously as a rule of thumb, we'd all have to say that the guy with the TV show can raise the dead if he claims to...since Jesus did that, and if God did it once he could do it again. (with emphasis upon "could"). That's obviously--I'd say--a very sophomoric argument.

I doubt these "facts" because they are not Scriptural; no, rather, they are anti-Scriptural. But do you know what is Scriptural? Saint Paul's words of wisdom: "14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light." - 2 Corinthians 11:14. I won't be bowing down to Satan.

I am a bit taken aback that you have done the Mormon thing by taking this verse out of context. The fact is that Christians can never become gods or demi-gods any more than angels can ever achieve that state. In fact, that is what got Satan in trouble with God.

As you might know, monophysitism holds that Jesus has only one nature, a single divine nature. This position is contrary to orthodox Catholic teaching as ruled by the Council of Chalcedon, that Jesus has both a divine and human nature. He is both God and man through the incarnation. So what John is saying in his First Letter is that we shall become like Jesus in his glorified humanity. True, Jesus is still one divine person, but he possesses both a divine and a human nature which are distinct. The Divine Word does not merely appear to be human in the person of Jesus. Thus he hears all the prayers of the faithful as both God and man. The departed souls have a share in Jesus' glorified humanity - not his divinity. It was as God in the flesh that Jesus could hear all the prayers addressed to God while he dwelt among us. But other than that, in his humanity, Jesus was like us in all things but sin, so Paul tells us. As man, gloriously existing in eternity outside physical time and space, Jesus hears all the prayers of the faithful without any physical constraints imposing themselves. The souls in heaven are just like him in his glorified humanity.

Apparently you have misunderstood my post. It was in response to a previous post which claimed these very same abilities for Mary that, as you have rightly pointed out, are the sole abilities of the Triune God.

We still have one very important thing NOT in common with Jesus, even in Heaven: We are not God. That difference is key.

It is as God and man in heaven that Jesus can hear all the prayers of the faithful, even at once if need be. And Jesus' humanity is no less authentic than ours is. Or do you believe as the Monophysites did that Jesus only appeared to be human or that his divine nature absorbed and nullified his human nature?

It appears that the topic of the thread is not being addressed here. Exactly what does this have to do with excessive devotion to Mary, or even Mary at all?

Mary is in heaven, not on earth. Still, only God is omniscient, but it doesn't take being omniscient to hear a finite number of prayers at once beyond real time. If it's technologically possible to process dozens of input information all at once beside real time on earth, as in a recording studio, then I'm sure the human mind in a glorified state can do it in eternity. There's nothing miraculous about it.

Right, Jesus is God and man in Heaven as he was on earth and has always been; his humanity is what makes us like him and him like us; it is his divinity as God that separates us from him; it's his divinity that makes him, well, God, and able to hear all of our prayers. It's that divinity that neither Mary nor any Saint has, and as such they can't and don't have the Godly ability to hear and answer prayers. Unless you are saying Mary is divine.

Many Protestants argue that it's not only excessive, but pointless to pray to Mary since she can't hear all of our prayers at once. This argument was brought up recently on this thread. I trust you aren't being disingenuous.

Please do not discourage people from praying to our Blessed Virgin Mary our Heavenly Mother Mary for this is precisely what Jesus and The Blessed Virgin Mary warned would happen with certain individuals when The Blessed Virgin Mary's Holy Rosary was delivered by Jesus to Saint Dominic and the Blessed Alan de la Roche including many other Saints, Children and Adults of whom Jesus Christ our Saviour and The Blessed Virgin Mary have in fact appeared throughout the ages.

Open your hearts to "receive" Jesus Christ our Saviour/God/The Holy Spirit and then you will know in your hearts minds souls and bodies these comments about The Blessed Virgin Mary to be entirely wrong.

Of course The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God our Heavenly Mother is "Divine" Blessed and Crowned with Her Twelve Holy Stars by God The Most High and The Holy Spirit within Her "Coronation". Why do you suppose within God's Holy Word - His Holy Scriptures prophesied that God The Most High had shown His Apostles and Disciples the following:

" . . . and on her head a crown of twelve stars" (Revelation 12:1). "The Almighty has done great things to me" The humble servant of the Lord who became "the Mother of God" is crowned "the Queen of Heaven, is Queen of Mercy, Queen of the Universe, Queen of Hearts, Queen of Peace and Queen of Earth".

There are Twelve stars on The Blessed Virgin Mary's Holy Crown: one for each of the 12 tribes of Israel. The first Joyful Mystery of the Most Holy Rosary, "the Annunciation; when the Blessed Virgin Mary submitted Herself to the will of God. God The Most High gave Glory to The Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of Heaven, the Universe and Earth.

The Magnificat:

"Mary's Song of Praise: The Magnificat

And Mary said,

“My soul magnifies the Lord,

and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

for He has looked on the humble estate of His servant.
For behold, from now on all generations will call me Blessed;

for He who is Mighty has done great things for me,
and Holy is His Name.

And His mercy is for those who fear Him
from generation to generation.

He has shown strength with His arm;
He has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;

He has brought down the mighty from their thrones
and exalted those of humble estate;

He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich He has sent away empty.

He has helped His servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,

as He spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to His offspring forever.”

This Holy Canticle of The Blessed Virgin Mary's when prayed allows for one's heart to be greatly Blessed in God's Holy Will - it is in fact Glorifying God The Most High every time The Blessed Virgin Mary's Holy Magnificat Prayer/Psalm/Song is recited.

Every time The Hail Mary Prayer to The Blessed Virgin Mary is prayed and/or recited:- great Blessings are given to that soul/person now and eternally - allowing in God's Holy Will - for His Blessings, Gifts and Graces to be granted with many Holy Roses given to The Blessed Virgin Mary in God The Most High's Holy Presence.

Every time The Our Father is prayed to Jesus/God/The Holy Spirit - great Blessings are given to that soul/person in Jesus/God's Holy Will now and eternally with many Holy Roses given to Jesus/God The Most High and The Holy Spirit.

Every time The Holy Rosary is prayed to The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God great Blessings are given to that soul/person now and eternally with Holy Plenary Indulgences granted in God's Holy Will through the Holy Rosary given to The Blessed Virgin Mary for mankind to pray to Mother Mary with many many Holy Roses given to The Holy Trinity and The Blessed Virgin Mary.

Every time Jesus' Divine Mercy Chaplet is prayed to Jesus and God The Most High - Jesus has said the following when He appeared to Saint Sister Faustina during the 1930's on countless occasions contained within the writings (under a spiritual director/priest) of 600 diaries of which The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared during those years:

"Know this, that when a person prays this Chaplet for the conversion of sinners, know My Daughter, that this is always heard and answered".

"Write this down, that before My Coming as Judge, I shall first come as "The King of Mercy". Before the coming of that day of justice, there will be a sign in the Heavens. All light will be extinguished in heaven and earth. There will appear in the sky The Sign of The Cross. From each of the Wounds in My Hands and Feet will shine forth a light that will for a brief time brighten the earth. This will be a short time before the last day".

and;
The Blessed Virgin Mary :

"... you have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful Savior, but as a just Judge. Oh, how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still the time for [granting] mercy. If you keep silent now, you will be answering for a great number of souls on that terrible day. ..." (635)

Jesus Christ our Saviour to Saint Sister Faustina:

"Say unceasingly the chaplet that I have taught you. Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy. I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy". (687)

"Write: I am Thrice Holy, and I detest the smallest sin. I cannot love a soul which is stained with sin; but when it repents, there is no limit to My generosity toward it. My mercy embraces and justifies it. With My mercy, I pursue sinners along all their paths, and My Heart rejoices when they return to Me. I forget the bitterness with which they fed My Heart and rejoice at their return".

"Tell sinners that no one shall escape My Hand; if they run away from My Merciful Heart, they will fall into My Just Hands. Tell sinners that I am always waiting for them, that I listen intently to the beating of their heart... when will it beat for Me? Write, that I am speaking to them through their remorse of conscience, through their failures and sufferings, through thunderstorms, through the voice of the Church. And if they bring all My graces to naught, I begin to be angry with them, leaving them alone and giving them what they want". (1728)

"My daughter, tell souls that I am giving them My mercy as a defense. I Myself am fighting for them and am bearing the just anger of My Father". (1516)

The Lord said to me:

"My daughter, do not tire of proclaiming My mercy. In this way you will refresh this Heart of Mine, which burns with a flame of pity for sinners. Tell My priests that hardened sinners will repent on hearing their words when they speak about My unfathomable mercy, about the compassion I have for them in My Heart. To priests who proclaim and extol My mercy, I will give wondrous power; I will anoint their words and touch the hearts of those to whom they will speak. (1521)

"Today I heard a voice in my soul: Oh, if sinners knew My mercy, they would not perish in such great numbers. Tell sinful souls not to be afraid to approach Me; speak to them of My great mercy".

The Lord said to me,

"The loss of each soul plunges Me into mortal sadness. You always console Me when you pray for sinners. The prayer most pleasing to Me is prayer for the conversion of sinners. Know, My daughter, that this prayer is always heard and answered". (1396-1397)

"... Oh, how miserable are those who do not take advantage of the miracle of God's mercy! You will call out in vain, but it will be too late". (1448)

"My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world. Who can measure the extent of my goodness? For you I descended from heaven to earth; for you I allowed myself to be nailed to the cross; for you I let my Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come, then, with trust to draw graces from this fountain. I never reject a contrite heart. Your misery has disappeared in the depths of My mercy. Do not argue with Me about your wretchedness. You will give me pleasure if you hand over to me all your troubles and griefs. I shall heap upon you the treasures of My grace". (1485)

January 27, 1938.

"During Holy Hour today, Jesus complained to me about the ingratitude of souls: In return for My blessings, I get ingratitude. In return for My love, I get forgetfulness and indifference. My Heart cannot bear this. (1537)

The souls that say this chaplet will be embraced by My mercy during their lifetime and especially at the hour of their death. (754)

At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same. (811)

Oh, what great graces I will grant to souls who say this chaplet; the very depths of My tender mercy are stirred for the sake of those who say the chaplet. (848
)

Jesus Christ our Saviour's Divine Mercy Chaplet of which Jesus has requested all mankind to recite/pray at 3pm daily while focussing on His bitter Passion and Sorrowful Stations of His Cross:

The Sign of The Cross
The Our Father
The Hail Mary
The Creed

On five Our Father Holy Rosary beads (e.g. 5 times):

"Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world".

On Ten Hail Mary Holy Rosary beads (e.g. 10 times):

"For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, have Mercy on us, and on the whole world".

In conclusion x 3 times:

"Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have Mercy on us and on the whole world".

x 3 times at any time during the day to Jesus Christ our Saviour:

O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus, as a Fount of Mercy for us, I Trust in You".

At 3pm daily:

You expired Jesus, but the source of Life gushed forth for souls and an ocean of Mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, Unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world, and empty Yourself out upon us".

"The souls that say this chaplet will be embraced by My mercy during their lifetime and especially at the hour of their death". (754)

"At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the indulgence is the same". (811)

"Oh, what great graces I will grant to souls who say this chaplet; the very depths of My tender mercy are stirred for the sake of those who say the chaplet". (848)

January 28, 1938.
"Today the Lord said to me, My daughter, write down these words: All those souls who will glorify My mercy and spread its worship, encouraging others to trust in My mercy, will not experience terror at the hour of death. My mercy will shield them in that final battle...
My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you. It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet. When hardened sinners say it, I will fill their souls with peace, and the hour of their death will be a happy one".

"Write this for the benefit of distressed souls: when a soul sees and realizes the gravity of its sins, when the whole abyss of the misery into which it immersed itself is displayed before its eyes, let it not despair, but with trust let it throw itself into the arms of My mercy, as a child into the arms of its beloved mother. These souls have a right of priority to My compassionate Heart, they have first access to My mercy. Tell them that no soul that has called upon My mercy has been disappointed or brought to shame. I delight particularly in a soul which has placed its trust in My goodness".

"Write that when they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Savior". (1540-1541)

"When I entered the chapel for a moment, the Lord said to me, My daughter, help Me to save a certain dying sinner. Say the chaplet that I have taught you for him. When I began to say the chaplet, I saw the man dying in the midst of terrible torment and struggle. His Guardian Angel was defending him, but he was, as it were, powerless against the enormity of the soul's misery. A multitude of devils was waiting for the soul. But while I was saying the chaplet, I saw Jesus just as He is depicted in the image. The rays which issued from Jesus' Heart enveloped the sick man, and the powers of darkness fled in panic. The sick man peacefully breathed his last. When I came to myself, I understood how very important the chaplet was for the dying. It appeases the anger of God". (1565)

"Today I was awakened by a great storm. The wind was raging, and it was raining in torrents, thunderbolts striking again and again. I began to pray that the storm would do no harm, when I heard the words: Say the chaplet I have taught you, and the storm will cease. I began immediately to say the chaplet and hadn't even finished it when the storm suddenly ceased, and I heard the words: Through the chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will. (1731)

When a great storm was approaching, I began to say the chaplet. Suddenly I heard the voice of an angel: "I cannot approach in this storm, because the light which comes from her mouth drives back both me and the storm." Such was the angel's complaint to God. I then recognized how much havoc he was to have made through this storm; but I also recognized that this prayer was pleasing to God, and that this chaplet was most powerful. (1791)

"Pray as much as you can for the dying. By your entreaties, obtain for them trust in My mercy, because they have most need of trust, and have it the least. Be assured that the grace of eternal salvation for certain souls in their final moment depends on your prayer". (1777)

It's that divinity that neither Mary nor any Saint has, and as such they can't and don't have the Godly ability to hear and answer prayers. Unless you are saying Mary is divine.

"He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice.." (1146)

Friday, September 13, 1935.
In the evening, when I was in my cell, I saw an Angel, the executor of divine wrath. He was clothed in a dazzling robe, his face gloriously bright, a cloud beneath his feet. From the cloud, bolts of thunder and flashes of lightning were springing into his hands; and from his hand they were going forth, and only then were they striking the earth. When I saw this sign of divine wrath which was about to strike the earth, and in particular a certain place, which for good reasons I cannot name, I began to implore the Angel to hold off for a few moments, and the world would do penance. But my plea was a mere nothing in the face of the divine anger. (...) At that very moment I felt in my soul the power of Jesus' grace, which dwells in my soul. When I became conscious of this grace, I was instantly snatched up before the Throne of God. (...)
I found myself pleading with God for the world with words heard interiorly".

As I was praying in this manner, I saw the Angel's helplessness: he could not carry out the just punishment which was rightly due for sins. Never before had I prayed with such inner power as I did then.
The words with which I entreated God are these: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ for our sins and those of the whole world; for the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us. (Diary, 474-475)

The next morning, when I entered chapel, I heard these words interiorly: Every time you enter the chapel, immediately recite the prayer which I taught you yesterday. When I had said the prayer, in my soul I heard these words: This prayer will serve to appease My wrath. (476)

"Make the Sign of The Cross, first of all, you will say one OUR FATHER and HAIL MARY and the I BELIEVE IN GOD. Then on the OUR FATHER beads you will say the following words: "Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world." On the HAIL MARY beads you will say the following words: "For the sake of His sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and on the whole world." In conclusion, three times you will recite these words: "Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world." (476)

Say unceasingly the chaplet that I have taught you. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy. (687)

"Today is the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. During Holy Mass, I was given the knowledge of the Heart of Jesus and of the nature of the fire of love with which He burns for us and of how He is an Ocean of Mercy. Then I heard a voice: Apostle of My mercy, proclaim to the whole world My unfathomable mercy. Do not be discouraged by the difficulties you encounter in proclaiming My mercy. These difficulties that affect you so painfully are needed for your sanctification and as evidence that this work is Mine. My daughter, be diligent in writing down every sentence I tell you concerning My mercy, because this is meant for a great number of souls who will profit from it". (1142)

"My daughter, do whatever is within your power to spread devotion to My mercy. I will make up for what you lack. Tell aching mankind to snuggle close to My merciful Heart, and I will fill it with peace".

"Tell [all people], My daughter, that I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other souls". (1074)

"Souls who spread the honor of My mercy I shield through their entire lives as a tender mother her infant, and at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the Merciful Savior. At that last hour, a soul has nothing with which to defend itself except My mercy. Happy is the soul that during its lifetime immersed itself in the Fountain of Mercy, because justice will have no hold on it". (1075)

"Let the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy". (1146)

"At three o'clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world. I will allow you to enter into My mortal sorrow. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion.... (Diary, 1320)

"I remind you, My daughter, that as often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners; for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul. In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking; it was the hour of grace for the whole world-mercy triumphed over justice".

"My daughter, try your best to make the Stations of the Cross in this hour, provided that your duties permit it; and if you are not able to make the Stations of the Cross, then at least step into the chapel for a moment and adore, in the Blessed Sacrament, My Heart, which is full of mercy; and should you be unable to step into the chapel, immerse yourself in prayer there where you happen to be, if only for a very brief instant". (1572)

"I desire that you know more profoundly the love that burns in My Heart for souls, and you will understand this when you meditate upon My Passion. Call upon My mercy on behalf of sinners; I desire their salvation. When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give him the grace of conversion. This is the prayer:

"O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You." (186-187)

"Jesus looked at me and said, Souls perish in spite of My bitter Passion. I am giving them the last hope of salvation; that is, the Feast of My Mercy. If they will not adore My mercy, they will perish for all eternity. Secretary of My mercy, write, tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice, is near. (Diary - Divine Mercy in My Soul". 965

Many Protestants argue that it's not only excessive, but pointless to pray to Mary since she can't hear all of our prayers at once. This argument was brought up recently on this thread. I trust you aren't being disingenuous.
I must say that I've NEVER heard that particular complaint, if it is even true. I'd like to read such a claim, if you can link us to something written by any person who says as much. In any case, it isn't anything that "Many" Protestants do. I know that for a certainty.

I have heard the point made that there is nothing in Scripture that suggests that the dead can hear us...and also that when people pray to spirits they think are saints, they have no way of knowing if they are in heaven or not and even in position to carry our petitions to the Father.

But the idea that they CAN do all of this EXCEPT THAT they can't handle two calls at once, is really funny. ^_^

Not at all. If you are attempting to equate the divine ability of Jesus Christ to hear and answer millions of prayers simultaneously with Mary's ability to do the same, I would say you are attributing a divine attribute to her.

Then, one can just as easily attribute any and all essential aspects of divinity to any one of a number of diembodied beings in heaven on the basis that they are in heaven. Thus, for example, one can say that any saint is omnipresent because God is omnipresent and is outside of physical boundaries. Thus, all beings in heaven are outside of physical boundaries and are omnipresent.

Using this logic, one can conclude that all beings in heaven are gods because all are identical to the Triune God in their nature and attributes.
