I completely agree with you right now in this case, and with this post, and it contradicts absolutely nothing of what I have just been saying right now also, etc...

God Bless!
We were discussing if Adam was with Eve when she ate the fruit, the answer from scripture is yes. But, that's not to say that the serpent tempted Eve any where near the tree, she could have been elsewhere in the garden - and looked upon it from afar. But the text doesn't say that, it says she ate of the tree and gave fruit to Adam who was with her. Adam didn't even put up a fight, he just went along with it.

The whole story is about choice.

OK so no mention of what version of the bible you're referring to?

My aim was not to judge you, but look at comparing what the versions said.
Ok, now I will tell you I guess, I used to be a JW a very, very, long, long time ago, etc, and I can't help sometimes still remembering or recalling that translation at times, because it's what I first learned on, but I have many different translations that I use now, and what I have now learned now since being with them now, has me so far removed from them now, that I couldn't go back even if I wanted to, which I really don't anyway, etc...

But, like I said, that is not the only reason I believe what I believe about what we are right now talking about right here, etc...

God Bless!

But was Adam with her the whole time she was being tempted, and maybe first touched it maybe, etc...?

And then also, did God give them each two separate commandments concerning the tree or not also, etc...?

God Bless!

That makes sense now you say that.
JW's have a different bible altogether, it's false and not the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We all are on a journey to truth in this life I believe, doesn't matter where we came from it just matters where we go.

Hello Pipp!

I'm not sure if you appreciate extra-Biblical text, but find the below text from the Book of Jubilees to be interesting. :)

3:19 And the serpent said unto the woman, 'Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that on the day ye shall eat thereof, your eyes will be opened, and ye will be as gods, and ye will know good and evil.
3:20 And the woman saw the tree that it was agreeable and pleasant to the eye, and that its fruit was good for food, and she took thereof and eat.
3:21 And when she had first covered her shame with figleaves, she gave thereof to Adam and he eat, and his eyes were opened, and he saw that he was naked.

Most Bibles period have some right and some wrong in them, and besides that part of them, still pretty much say the same things, pretty much anyway, but I have learned to use multiple different translations now, especially when some things about them might appear to be in conflict, and if I can't solve it by using multiple different translations, then I will use Google, or see what others have to say about it, and maybe even research the original Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic if I have to, etc, and this is how I arrive at the truth now, etc...

God Bless!

From my earlier post below.
The previous passage to this was Eve's conversation with the serpent, it doesn't mention if Adam overheard or not.
But when she chose to take the fruit and eat it, she offered some to Adam who was with her.

6 The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.

My earlier posts state the scripture from genesis 2 and 3. Genesis 2 Adam was told by God, Genesis 3 Eve told the serpent God said, but she doesn't say God told her directly, like it shows him telling Adam in genesis 2. But they both knew Gods command either way.
2 “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. 3 “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”

Can this text be verified with the original Hebrew?

research the original Hebrew/Greek/Aramaic
Yes this is what I do mostly if I'm not sure or just curious If the English translation is accurate. I'm fascinated what a difference the Hebrew language makes to different texts in the OT... I've softened my view of the bible because of it, that's for sure.

The whole debate started because you believe that Adam lied to Eve and is why she sinned. Did that come from JW teaching?
No, not at all, but it is the only explanation that I see that can fit in with the rest of the Bible (Adam not being at all tempted/tricked/deceived by the serpent) and why Eve thought she couldn't touch the fruit of the tree, and why she was given that command different from Adam, and "everything else", etc...

God Bless!

The Scripture in post #3 included word study. But remains -
"And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, ..."
It follows in the same order as
"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (I JOHN 2:16)

Adam probably didn't mean to lie to her, and probably did not fully see his error, or the extreme craftiness of the serpent, until the deed was already done, and he had a very, very difficult choice to make, etc...

Eve first saw that she did not die when she first touched it, and the serpent probably wouldn't have even been able to bring his temptation to Eve if Adam had not added to God's Word about it to her, etc, and she either ate of it by herself after that and then brought it to Adam and they both did eat of it, or she brought it to Adam after she saw that she could touch it and she did not die (but had already disobeyed) (and Adam saw this, and knew why) (and that it was because of him, etc) and they both did eat of it together after that or at that time, etc...

And the rest is now history now, etc...

God Bless!

It's obvious that the Holy Bible has not convinced you with its plain language.

Nevermind, maybe one day that will change... until then, peace

Eve first saw that she did not die when she first touched it,
It relates to spiritual death not physical death.

They had the curse of death on them due to sin, this is how we were separated from God.

I believe the Bible purposely leaves certain details out in order for us to use our own minds to discern, or put two and two together, and use logic and/or reason, etc...
