Maybe that is simply an assumption on your part? Although the Sabbath is also a part of God's Word that Jesus and all the Apostles and disciples kept according to to the scriptures which is one of God's 10 commandments from the spoken Word of God now recorded in the scriptures that we are to believe and follow.

You might read some testimonies of folks that have been released from the blindness as they transition away from cults or sects.

Then again one should be careful. Many thought Jesus and His disciples where a cult and a sect as well and called Jesus of the devil according to the scriptures.

Jesus the Living Word of God is still speaking, otherwise we could not understand Scripture.
We have no faith unless we hear Jesus speak by the Holy Spirit.
The words on the page have no life in themselves and are not God's Word until they are received by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
This is why it is dangerous to refer to the bible as God's Word - Satan quoted Scripture at the temptation of Jesus and it was NOT God's Word.

No one said otherwise so why pretend that they have and seek to make arguments no one is arguing about? God only gives the holy Spirit however to those who believe and follow His Word *Acts of the Apostles 5:29-32. 2:38. Satan did indeed quote scripture. What was the response of Jesus? "IT IS WRITTEN" (scripture) "Man does not live by break alone but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4) - Scripture. Therefore the scriptures are the sole rule of faith because it is through the scriptures that we know what "the faith" is according to Romans 10:17. It is true however that we cannot know the truth of God's Word unless we prayerfully seek Jesus for His Spirit to be our guide and teacher John 16:13; John 6:63; John 14:26; John 7:17; 1 John 2:27. Sadly not many people do this or even believe it.

I am not sure what Acts 5 29-32 has to do with it...

Not so - He give the Holy Spirit so we can follow His Word...

This is the very point I am making ! - Jesus was saying that the use of Scripture itself was deceptive when not proceeding from God's mouth.

    Your response here...
Carl what do you think the post you are quoting from is saying and why are you saying "not so" while disregarding what the supporting scriptures are saying in Acts of the Apostles 5:29-31 which says [29], Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, WE OUGHT TO OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN. [30], The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you slew and hanged on a tree. [31], Him has God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. [32], And we are his witnesses of these things; and SO IS ALSO THE HOLY GHOST, WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN TO THEM THAT OBEY HIM." - Now who does God give the Holy Spirit to Carl? God's Spirit works through the Word of God as we believe what God's Word says because Gods' Spirit according to the scriptures is the Spirit of the Word of God *see John 6:63.
Jesus says no where in the bible that the use of scripture is deceptive. How did you come up with that interpretation from Jesus answering the temptations of the devil in the wilderness with scripture and saying man does not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God? (Matthew 4:4). Jesus answered the devils temptations with scripture. He did not say anywhere that scripture is deceptive. You may want to review your thinking here.

    Take Care.

Are you saying Satan was not trying to deceive Jesus with Scripture?

No. I was saying that Jesus does not say anywhere that scripture is deceptive. Of course the devil uses scripture deceptively. Jesus response was not don't use scripture because it is deceptive. The response of Jesus through the Spirit was the correct use of scripture stating it is "written". I noticed you did not respond to my questions in regards to Acts 5:29-32 so I gather you understand why it was posted earlier now.

    Take Care Carl.

Because the HS focuses only on matters of the Gospel of the kingdom, Jesus' Gospel that He said must be taught. That is why it was sent as a helper.

Good point, so how can we know which group has the truth of God's Word and who does not have the truth of God's Word on this topic? Don't forget traditions will not help us here either according to Jesus in Matthew 15:3-9.

Great post!...."Scriptures alone means nothing to us unless is inspired by the Holy Spirit" within our hearts.
I think in the same way Scriptures was written by man, as they carried along by the Holy Spirit

Traditions will help us as they are tested by scripture.

So when Satan quoted Scripture, was it God's Word?

By those of and who understand the counter-culture of the Kingdom compared to the world man has created, guided by the HS in respect to the Kingdom only. We are guided in God's governance, not man's. All understanding is built upon that foundation.

You tell me because I thought you said the Bible was the rule. So all Sola Scriptura agree on doctrine correct? Or, do you need a teacher to tell you how to interpret the Bible?

There is nothing wrong with tradition if those traditions are supported by the scriptures. Jesus (not me) says that traditions are wrong when they lead us away from God's Word to break the commandments of God in Matthew 15:3-9.

    Ok @rturner76 no problem....

WHO ARE GOD'S SAINTS ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES?

REVELATION 12:17, [17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ

REVELATION 14:12, HERE IS THE PATIENCE OF THE SAINTS: HERE ARE THEY THAT KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, AND THE FAITH OF JESUS.

REVELATION 22:14, BLESSED ARE THEY THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, THAT THEY MAY HAVE RIGHT TO THE TREE OF LIFE, AND MAY ENTER IN THROUGH THE GATES INTO THE CITY.

ACTS 5:32, And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN TO THEM WHO OBEY HIM.

    .......................

Note: According to the scriptures, Gods' saints or Gods' true people or Church "keep all the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus". Then in response to your earlier question in regards to the Sabbath which is one of God's 10 commandments (Exodus 20:8-11) which group @rturner76 keeps all the commandments of God?

We should then compare what John says as a test to know if someone is from God or not from God in John where it says...

1 JOHN 2:3-4 [3], And HEREBY WE KNOW THAT WE KNOW HIM IF WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. [4], HE THAT SAYS I KNOW HIM AND DOES NOT KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS IS A LIAR AND THE TRUTH IS NOT IN HIM.

    and again....

1 JOHN 5:2-3 [2], BY THIS WE KNOW THAT WE LOVE THE CHILDREN OF GOD, WHEN WE LOVE GOD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS [3], FOR THE IS THE LOVE OF GOD, THAT WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS: and his commandments are not grievous.

    .................

So according to the scriptures those who keep God's "seventh day Sabbath" are identified as God's saints and the ones telling the truth because they keep all the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. This is scripture defining the faith here which is the only rule of what "the Faith" is.

    Hope this is helpful.

    Your response here...
Has nothing to do with the post you are quoting from. Was the response of Jesus to quote scripture?
