• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I had all sorts of answers in my head, kept coming out totally wrong and horrible and such..... I am a guest in your forum, and I'm trying to get away from being mean nasty and horrible in general

I can only think of this analogy. My supervisor at work always says to us after an incident "what did you do differently that could have contributed to *name deleteds* melt down. Ok, so there are times when the incidents just happen, however more often that not, we can pin point a clients melt down to something different that we as staff has done.

Sometimes we need to look at how our own behavoir exacerbates the situation.

Take from that what you will
Yes, but I signed up in a conserative forum... I didn't know my new job description was fellowshiping with an influx of liberals and having to be PC to get along with all of them.

I would love it if some would understand the deal here for some of us.

Well I wasn't starting a battle, if there's going to be this continual influx of liberals everywhere I'm politely asking that someone field some of the problems - Can we all keep in mind that I didn't come TO a liberal section & sign up?

i feel like i'm being conditioned like a dog in training to this -

Nadiine, I think I do understand.

Please consider that what I now type is an attempt at understanding and not intended as an attack upon your character. If I am in error, correct me or have the mods delete this post.

I think I understand that what you really want is a place, this forum, to be a refuge of pure conservatism.

Let's leave aside for the moment what exactly defines 'pure conservatism.' That's not the point right now.

The point is that I and others are in no way to be considered by any means within that definition.

I accept that. I agree. I am not a conservative Christian as it is defined and portrayed here.

What you want, if I may, is for me to get out and leave you alone. And I say that with no hatred or ill will in my heart. I'm just trying to get to an honest assessment here.

Yet you are a member of a forum community in which other members do not share exactly that sentiment.

I think then that amongst yourselves you need to decide how to resolve this. Perhaps what you need is another subforum that members such as myself can go to post in fellowship. You, then, need never go in there. I don't think that would really be breaking the site rules. You see, I don't think you can close this place up entirely, but at same time I think I understand your desire to simply not have to deal with the likes of me hanging around.

OK. I can handle that. I think others can do, but I don't speak for them.

I'm done here then until and if this gets resolved. Not out of spite or hatefulness. But out of a desire to respect the membership of this forum.

You folks have been through an aweful lot within a small space of time. It's been intense. You need space and healing and prayer.

I can offer prayer without having to be here to do it.

Hmm.. I am reminded of the discussions we had when the forum had just been created over fundamentalism vs. conservatism. I thought we had come to an agreement that our forum was going to be welcoming and good-natured. Now some are pushing to cut off fellowship with liberals? This isn't in keeping with the original intent of the forum.

Not at all, Lentalis. We welcome everyone here for fellowship. The problem is when the baiting begins which I am seeing a lot of in this thread and some others.

look, I'm one of the most conservative people in this forum, and I've been here since the first day.

I'm conservative socially, economically, politically, theologically, and doctrinally.

I don't want liberalism here. In fact when we wrote the rules, Albion and I ruffled quite a few feathers and argued with alot of others here that they weren't conservative enough.

however, I think that there is way too much suspicion going on here.
Also the point of the rules from the very beginning was never to exclude PEOPLE but rather to simply limit conversation and debate on certain topics so that the conservatives here wouldn't have to constantly be defending the authority of scripture and things like that.

That hasn't changed and these people joining isn't going to change it.

Now that's a different matter entirely. :)

When others take advantage of the forum and the members here, that shouldn't be tolerated. No one is saying it should (or at least as far as I'm aware, haven't read the entire thread yet).

That doesn't mean we should cease to be welcoming and close ourselves off to others.

By the way, to clarify, I'm not saying everyone should be allowed to debate our beliefs and the members here. But fellowship with other Christians? That's absolutely something we should be encouraging.

I am in agreement with ALL of Nadiine's posts.

Most of the WWMC members post at IIDB, and their main most fun is to mock the CC members. They consider us to be conservative fools, and have a field day making jokes about the CC members.

Chaos... at least this has opened up some sort of REAL communication - honestly, you & cadan to me have seemed predominantly disingenuine becuz most everything you post doesn't seem from the heart from my view. (just by all the jesting)
I'm happy to see something that sounds genuine and I appreciate that you see REAL people here having some grief.

Different people come to a forum for different reasons and have different beliefs and personalities. Some come only to fellowship, others are here for intense doctrinal debate, etc.
Not everybody fits every mold or forum. With that said, I came to CC right after Erwin's changes that threw everything into chaos. In my earlier posts, I called this place my "safe haven" from the riots "out there" so that I could I could find some shelter here with people that have the same beliefs and worldview I do. Relax, let my hair down & BE CONSERVATIVE & have the same issues, irritations & frustrations that everyone like me would share w/ all the changes.

Now, this area is starting to fill up with liberalism - no I have no hatred of any liberals as people - I've already said that some of my real life friends are liberals & we get along GREAT (*no religion/political topics only).
My safe haven is just gone where I once felt I could put my feet up & ENJOY people of like belief and worldview.
Now I have interjections of comments on my views or quirpy attacks & smiley symbols.
It's not personal on anybody - but we all "fit in" with certain groups - I"m NOT liberal; I'm not even close! (as if I had to tell you guys that) heh:holy:

the only thing liberal about me is my past when I was a full fledged, outspoken Greenpeace & Peta member who tried to turn gay guys straight. :( :swoon:

I needed a safe haven in this forum where grenades weren't lobbed every 3 seconds and I feel that's slipping away too.

I have nothing personal against people - I like most all people (contrary to what this all looks like). lol
I wish I could blame all this on PMS... but that was weeks ago:swoon: ... lol

I appreciate what I took as a sincere post from you.
