The Catholic Church is not bound to the city of Rome, nor does She officially call herself the Roman Catholic Church. It is merely a distinction in rite, not denomination.

Christ's Church, which today subsists in its fullness in the Catholic Church was born at the Crucifixion, and fortified at Pentecost.

And of course there are numerous examples of the Church in action prior to 313. And the quote in the OP: "Constantine originally called for religious freedom, power corrupted that ideal, and soon Christianity became an absolute spiritual monarchy" is unsubstantiated polemics.

CHRISTIANS in action, but no evidence of the Catholic Denomination AT ALL prior to the 4th century. Doing anything or not. In fact, there's no evidence of any denomination AT ALL prior to the 4th century - much less the specific, singular, particular one that exists today as the Catholic Church.

Catholic as universal as All believers in Christ....

Catholic does not mean universal.

It means "concerned with the whole".

KATA HOLOS.

Forgive me...

That is because the Catholic Church is not a denomination: It is the very Church you keep speaking of. You are not seeing that which is right under your nose

I myself view it as one as I do the Orthodox Denomination.
Once ya'll become as ONE again, then I will call you a Church

I, too, feel that this schism has lasted too long. Let us pray and work towards making this disunity go away.

Why not both of you study more on Revelation then?
Perhaps then a lot of non-RCs will stop seeing the RCC as the "harlot" in Revelation ;)

John 11:48 "If-ever we may be be letting Him thus, all shall be believing in Him.
And shall be coming the Romans and they shall be taking away/arousin <142> (5692) of Us and the Place and the Nation

Revelation 6:6 And I hear a voice in midst of the four living-ones saying: "choinex of grain/wheat a denari and three choinex of barleys/kriqhV <2915> a denari, and the oil and the wine no you should be injuring".

vatican 1's statement seems as though it is bound to the city...

2. For no one can be in doubt, indeed it was known in every age that the holy and most blessed Peter, prince and head of the apostles, the pillar of faith and the foundation of the Catholic Church, received the keys of the kingdom from our lord Jesus Christ, the savior and redeemer of the human race, and that to this day and for ever he lives and presides and exercises judgment in his successors the bishops of the Holy Roman See, which he founded and consecrated with his blood [46].

Looking at your location today (BABYLON), I have to ask. When did you swim the Tiber?
I didn't have to swim it......:D

Quiet for the sake of peace - we'd set the date of RCC coming into existence much later than 313. Now, the Church of Rome is something different - look into OUSA's post.

God helps
Ok thks. I guess GT could use a little of that now

Matthew 10:34 "No thou should be inferring that I came to be casting Peace upon the land.
Not I came to be casting Peace but a Sword/macairan <3162>

Reve 6:4 And came forth another horse, firey and to the one sitting on him was given to him to be taking the Peace from the land and that one another they should be slaying and was given to him a Sword/macaira <3162> great. [Ezekiel 38:21]

Reve 16:10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast. Its kingdom was plunged into darkness, and people bit their tongues in pain and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and sores. But they did not repent of their works.

Our priest yesterday gave his homily about how Satan despairs when we are down and call on the name of God. His point is that even in our trials we need to praise God and praise the trials that allow us to show our faith.

 Is there any relation of the "eufrates" drying up to the "harvest" being dried in Reve 14:15?

Reve 14:15 and another Messenger came out out of the Sanctuary crying out in a voice, great, to the one sitting on the cloud "send! the sickle of thee and reap! that came the Hour to reap, that is dried/exhranqh <3583> (5681) the Harvest of the land. [Joel 3:13/Matt 13:30]

It is typically associated with Rome, of course, and was so at the time Vatican I was written. But by "not bound" I mean the Church could exist if Rome were destroyed or the successor of Peter moved. For example, in the early 14th century, there were 70 or so years when Popes presided from Avignon, France because of Roman violence and whatnot. And there was another incident when a Pope was exiled from Rome for a number of years by a king...I forget the date...

Good question. I had always taken the verse in Revelations 14 to refer to the Last Judgement and the separation of the wheat from the tares, a showing of mercy. While the verses in Revelation 15 and 16 seem to talk about another vision of the plagues sent upon the earth, a showing of wrath. The two sides of justice?

although we won't agree much, I'd have to agree with Mr. Polo that Geographical location would have no bearing on the matter.
Well that depends :D

Revelation 17:9 Here the mind, the having wisdom. The seven heads seven mountains/orh <3735> are, the where the Woman is sitting upon them.

Matt 24:16 "Then those in the Judea let be fleeing into/*upon the mountains/orh <3735>."
