No, Eelhsa is right. Rather than accepting the fact that it was wrong. My stubbornness in admitting it was out of pride. This is my formal apology. I should have provided the reference.

Perhaps addressing the information contained in the post rather than critique the citation?
Hardly. How about striving to not behave this way in the future. Unfortunately, this is a creationist tactic, and unwitting Christians too often get caught up in their methods.

Just out of curiosity, I noticed you bring up creationism a lot. Why is that when the topic has nothing to do with creationism?Hardly. How about striving to not behave this way in the future. My worry is that because I continually see plagiarism from theists in the Philosophy section, we have an entire group of people that believe things for reasons that they actually haven't thought through on their own. Or that they may sway someone else's opinion by regurgitating terrible arguments that they haven't vetted themselves.
Great point. IMO, most Christians have bad reasons for what they believe, due in no small part for the reasons you listed. They don't take time to vet then information. My worry is that because I continually see plagiarism from theists in the Philosophy section, we have an entire group of people that believe things for reasons that they actually haven't thought through on their own. Didn't you say, "This is all any of us can do"?You honestly think that when we make mistakes we can do better than apologize and honestly admit to our shortcomings? And since when does such an admission mean that we can't or aren't intending to do better in the future?
I'm not caught up in anything. An honest admission of guilt means that the person who has admitted their failings, recognizes what they have done and wants to do better. What is the problem here?
I'm sure that statement can also hold true of non-Christians. People sometimes don't think things through, this can be true of anyone, regardless of their specific beliefs.
Because quote mining and blatantly misrepresenting the facts is a creationist tactic. It's part of the "wedge document," and unfortunately, most Christians unwittingly fall in lock step with these methods.Just out of curiosity, I noticed you bring up creationism a lot. Although I don't entirely agree with your accusation, I do see where you are coming from.Because quote mining and blatantly misrepresenting the facts is a creationist tactic. It's part of the "wedge document," and unfortunately, most Christians unwittingly fall in lock step with these methods.
That I can agree with.Didn't you say, "This is all any of us can do"?
I disagree, admitting you're wrong is only the first step. Going forward, is it not moral to strive to not behave the same way as before?

I guess my question is, do Christians think the ends justify the means? Is "lying for Jesus" ok? Because it happens often enough that it's a pretty common phrase amongst non-theists.
Then what's your explanation for creationists who persistently quote mine and misrepresent the facts?
