Matt 24 Jesus speaking to the Jewish disciples asking a Jewish question answering a Jewish response when referring to false messiahs and prophets
He’s not talking about false messiahs in Chicago or la
And there certainly were false messiahs, both before the destruction of the Temple and afterward. For example Theudas in the 40's AD, and in the 2nd century Simon bar Kochba. Later on there would be individuals such as Moses of Crete and Sabatai Zvi. In modern times some Hassidic Jews, specifically within the Lubavitcher movement, claimed that Rabbi Menachim Schneerson was the messiah--a position which led to many Jews going so far as to reject the Jewishness of the Lubavitcher movement altogether.
So, yes, Jesus was warning His disciples about false messiahs. Something that has happened a number of times over the last two thousand years. Moreso outside of Judaism than within. Just look at the last century, with figures such as David Koresh. Wikipedia has a decent list of people who claimed to be the messiah/claimed to be Jesus. That's why Jesus is very clear that, concerning His return it will be without warning, it will be sudden, and nobody can know when it will happen. When He comes it will be Him, and it will be obvious. Nobody will have to say, "There he is" or "look he's in the desert", there will be false messiahs and false prophets, just as there would be wars, rumors of wars, natural disasters and so forth; not signs of the end, but rather the birth pangs of a fallen and injured creation filled with sinners (c.f. Romans 8:18-20).
The coming false messianic age the Jews create
A claim without any basis in Scripture, and comes across as nothing more than an antisemitic conspiracy theory.
Ok
Doesn’t make sense does it ?
Last day of human government?
Last day of grace?
Last day of the millennium ?
Last day of earth ?
The Last Day of this present age. That's what the Bible means when it speaks of the last day--the day when Christ returns, the day of Judgment, the day when the dead are raised, the day when God shall accomplish all that He has set out to accomplish.
Yes, because it isn't literal babylon. It is "Babylon" revealed in mystery, that's what Rome was.
Yes and Rome was just one of the heads
The heads are hills and kings, not empires or cities. The woman is the city, and the beast she rides upon is the power of empire wielded by the Roman
basileis, the rulers (aka emperors) of Rome.
This doesn’t make sense to you in our day but when she is built it will
Every prediction thus far about the future I've seen on this forum hasn't come to pass. Before I was even on this forum I used to see, on another forum, followers of Harold Camping. They had lots of predictions too and they told me the same thing--it's going to happen. Then it didn't, and they didn't bother to come back and talk about it, can't imagine why.
Yes
Well the messianic age the Jews are about to create may be the prime suspect
If you replaced "Jews" with lizard people, it would be just as biblical.
I do and this is why you probably don’t see what it’s all about
You may already have with the teachings you hold now
I believe what Christians have always believed. If you want to call into question the basic teachings of Christianity, you are free to do so. But I remain committed to the word of God and to the faith which we have received from the beginning.
Says those who can’t seem to fathom the gifts of god in Christ …
So you are appealing to extra-biblical revelation then?
Are we? Are you? Not yet …sooo guess what it’s coming
I don’t know about you but I have not received my glorious body yet to be able to be like Christ who went to heaven to sit by his father
Nope
Ephesians says we are, present tense, seated with Christ in heavenly places. The saints reign with Him right now, we are with Him as He is at the right hand of the Father. We are present there not in body, but through the mystery of God's grace. We are *in* Christ.
